  • Peaceful, simple site deep in the Peak District National Park
  • A five-minute drive from Eyam; Buxton town centre 25 minutes
  • Back to basics camping on quiet Derbyshire farmland
When booking a stay Seed Low Rake Camping, prepare for far-reaching views to the north, south, east and west – this peaceful back to basics spot is something of a vantage point over the local Derbyshire countryside, with plenty of far-reaching Peak District vistas over the surrounding Hope Valley. As befits such a rural locale, this farm site keeps things simple with basic facilities, including portable toilets and access to a shower. The site is well-maintained, but there aren't excessive amounts of rules to complicate stays here: barbecues, campfires, commercial vehicles and dogs are all welcome. Please do keep the noise down and be mindful of your fellow guests, though: this is a family-friendly site, so quiet hours are in force after 10:30 at night. The site is far away from houses and off a quiet country road, but it's also about a mile and a half from a pub, café and a bus stop. The surrounding patchwork of dry stone wall-lined fields is crossed by a fair few footpaths too, with the popular Monsal Trail just a few minutes' drive away on the other side of the river Wye. Eyam village (five minutes' drive) has several pubs, cafés and shops where you can get your fill of suitably trek-sustaining food. The market town of Bakewell (15 minutes) and the spa town of Buxton (25 minutes) are also close by for a meal out or a full-length day trip.

Local attractions

Lovely, lordly estates like Chatsworth House (15 minutes), Lyme (40 minutes) or Bolsover Castle (40 minutes) may very well be on the agenda at Seed Low Rake Camping, but more rugged historic sites like ruined Peveril Castle (25 minutes) or ancient Nine Ladies Stone Circle (30 minutes) most definitely deserve a visit too. For fishing or water-themed walks, meanwhile, head to Ladybower Reservoir (20 minutes), a huge body of water that’s home to lots of native wildlife. While in the area, you could also embark on underground adventures at Lost Earth Adventures (15 minutes), where you can try caving and potholing with help from a friendly team of instructors. If wriggling between rocks in the dark is a bit too intense, seek out alternative energetic activities like a swim at Buxton's leisure centre (25 minutes) or thwacking a few balls at Peak Practice Golf Driving Range (20 minutes). There are also zipwires, treetop challenges and high ropes around here – if intrigued by such a set-up, wend your way towards Go Ape Buxton (25 minutes) to find out more.
