Electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: The site is a beautiful, rural location. Stunning views and scenery with lots of wildlife to spot. We loved that it was an open field and our children could be just that, children. They played football with lots of other children and it was lovely to watch them enjoying being outdoors. The wardens were lovely and very chatty and made us feel welcome. We enjoyed the bonus of being able to hire a firepit whilst there. There was also a little "shop" available to buy those little extras that you may have forgotten. The site was clean and tidy. Toilets looked to be inside an old barn but were regularly cleaned and were spotless. We definitely will book to come back again.

Disliked: Although the firepit was a lovely bonus, we were surprised to find that to keep it for another night, we HAD to purchase another wood bundle - so don't do what we did and source the wood cheaper from the supermarket as you will still be made to purchase their wood to continue using it. It would be useful to have a map of the surrounding area up somewhere with local walks - due to the lack of signal at the campsite, you are then unable to find where the walks go to/where they are. I believe you can walk to the stepping stones from the campsite but there wasn't any clear path where and the wardens on site were unsure (no fault of their own).

From the manager: Thankyou for your review. We are sorry you were disappointed that we charge a log net rate (and provide a log net/kindling/paper) for a second nights use of our fire baskets. By buying our wood you are contributing towards the wear and tear on our baskets ensuring we are able to replace them each year. Phone signal here is great if you are on a network other than O2 and Vodafone. The best reception for these is on the front yard outside the house. I understand you were not aware that maps are available to purchase at reception. A sign in the pot wash area lists items for sale/to rent, we also have a copy of a local map on the reception window. We are not a big site so if anyone needs any information, they should head to the pot wash or reception where they will find the answer they need. Richard and Jo and our new wardens for this season, from Skegness, and haven't yet had time to fully explore the lovely area where we are located. There is time yet :-)

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Nothing really unimpressed

Disliked: Asked to change the weekend as have a 2 year old and a 6 year old paid for camping the weather was hurrendous so I emailed on the Friday to see if could re arrange for in a couple of weeks when the weather will be better said they couldn’t do this because it said showers and sun would never come here again as I think that is really rude why would I take a 2 year old camping when it was raining as bad as it was

From the manager: Thankyou for your review following your non-visit to site on Saturday. You did contact us Thursday asking to transfer your Saturday (1 night) booking to another weekend in a few weeks because of the weather forecast and 'the weather will be better'...you obviously know more than the forecasters :-). The forecast for this weekend was sunshine and showers, typical British weather which we have all become accustomed to. We do not open the site only on sunny days so there was no reason for us to transfer your booking. With not actually camping with us Saturday you wouldn't know we only suffered a couple of heavy downpours and with lovely, warm sunshine in between. Hardly horrendous weather! I would suggest you don't plan to go camping again in England if you're waiting for the couple of predictable sunny days we have :-)

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Beatuful place, very organized, plenty space between pitches, toilets and showers, wash up area always clean. Kids saw deers in the evening not far from us, so imagen their (and our) excitement! :). Pub 10 min walk with nice beer garden and play ground for kids under 7. Only one downside, that the field we were staying was really windy as there are no trees around, so prepare yourself a bit!

Disliked: It's more as suggestion, as sat Nat not showing exact location of the campsite, we are turning to different road(horrible tiny narror road! :) phone and car sat Nat were showing different turns. And the entrance actually is very good road with proper sign of campsite, so just don't turn anywhere off the main road while you see campsite sign! we went with friends in separate cars and both ended up waisting time! :) But honestly, nothing what we didn't like about this campsite! thank you for hosts!
