  • Wild-style pop-up site on a quiet riverbank in north Bedfordshire
  • St Neots 15 minutes' drive; Cambridge 45 minutes
  • Campfires in firepits and barbecues welcome
Lankeys Campsite is a back to basics site located in a peaceful farmland location in north Bedfordshire. Set along a quiet riverbank and sheltered by trees, this cosy collection of pitches is tucked away far from the main road in a suntrap that'll leave you feeling rested and refreshed. From the campsite, which is located in grassland in the corner of one of the farm's hay fields, there is a network of footpaths and bridleways to help you get out and explore the pretty Bedfordshire countryside – and you can bring your dog along on this part too, if you like, as the site accepts well-behaved pets. Local eggs are available, and just over the hill at the butcher's you can pick up fresh meat for the barbecue. A short five-minute drive away, the popular village of Kimbolton has a well-maintained park and a handy convenience store. Five minutes more by road will bring you to Perry, a village with a pub on the edge of Grafham Water, a reservoir with pretty waterside walks and watersports.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: True wild camping (no faciliets on site), nobody to bother you. Barbeque and fires, allowed, plenty of firewood around. Quiet in the night. The owner came to say hello and check if all is good.

Disliked: We had troubles with finding the place, a sign on the road pointing to the gravel road would do.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: I wanted to take my children camping without spending a fortune and to ‘go back to basis’ this really did the trick! Was a beautiful location, lots of walks straight from the site. Peaceful, able to have a fire which you cannot in most places. Just had the most perfect weekend. The owner was lovely, came to see if all was ok, offered us firewood and water refills if needed. (I’ve put five star for everything but Wi-Fi and activities were not available - this is what we wanted! But didn’t want to give one star and the review become remotely negative!)

Disliked: Nothing! Was great!

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Very secluded no frills/back to basics site ideal to escape from the world. It's a nook in a farmers field next to a Brook but with plenty of space for the little one and pups to roam around. We had the location to our selves with our small camper and 1 man tent and had loads of space. Will definitely be back
