Hexham, Northumberland, England
Powered grass campsite
Liked Really lovely campsite with great views. Nice clean shower and toilet block close to the pitches. Site is well looked after and pitches are huge! Access to footpaths is ideal for long walks. Check in was simple. A lovely stay!
Disliked No fault of the campsite but children playing with balls hit our tent and other vans (there are signs saying this is not allowed) Screaming children on one evening. I really feel the touring area would benefit from being adults only to avoid the children using it as a playground.

From the manager: Sorry about the children playing ball games & hitting tents & caravans, this is the reason we don't allow it . if you had contact us we would have dealt with this. Thank you for your review, we hope to see you again.

Orchard powered grass tent campsite (two person)
Liked Lovely site with clean facilities and beautiful views. Pitches are private and site was nice and quiet. Washing up area with a view is great along with the free range chickens!
Disliked Unfortunately a rat? ate a hole in our tent then came back each night. (I’m not blaming the owners as it’s a working farm but still not ideal to have damage to tent)

Keswick, Cumbria, England
Primitive grass campervan, tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked Handy location. If the weather was dry site would be lovely. Staff friendly.
Disliked Field was very busy and with poor weather became very muddy making trips to the facilities very unpleasant. Toilets were in quite a state by the end of the weekend (the mud was understandable but the toilets needed a good scrub). Information given at check in implied there was a quiet from 10pm rule. Unfortunately this wasn’t adhered to on either night we were there. Owner attempted to deal with a noisy group at about 1am but other groups were allowed to continue far past this. Definitely not the place to stay if you want to get up and enjoy what the lakes have to offer.

Disliked Would be nice if there was an alternative to portaloos but there were plenty of them and usually were fully stocked with paper and clean

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked Lovely site for exploring north wales. The toilets were spotless throughout (they seemed to have just been cleaned every time I went in). Owners are lovely and welcoming and allowed us to pitch away from families when we requested this. There are plenty of bins which are regularly emptied and there is a sink with hot water for washing up.
