General
- In the Dordogne with direct access to the Vézère river
- Near ancient caves and UNESCO sites
- Pool, library, takeaway and grocery shop
What a lush locale: family-friendly Camping La Rivière is in the Dordogne, in a wildlife haven with direct access to the Vézère river, with easy access to fishing, canoeing, mountain biking and horse riding – or just charging up one's batteries under the warm sun.
Or might you dig some ancient days instead? La Rivière's local town of Les Eyzies-de-Tayac-Sireuil in the Périgord Noir is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for many an old attraction, and the area as a whole has ancient sites galore, like the stalagmites and stalactite-filled cavern of the Grotte du Grand-Roc and the prehistoric paintings of the fab subterranean network making up the Lascaux Caves.
On-site facilities at La Rivière include a heated swimming pool and a paddling pool, a pétanque court, tennis and volleyball courts, ping pong tables, a library, a grocery shop, and free wifi in reception. Takeaway meals are available too.
Evening entertainment, kids' shows and rock-climbing excursions (this is rocky land) are organised in summer by the friendly site team.

Local attractions
Several old castles like the Château de Castelnaud and the Château de Beynac dot the countryside of this part of France, along with colourful and comely little villages such as La Roque Gageac above the Dordogne river and one of Les Plus Beaux Villages de France.
Smashing Bergerac should be near the top of any list of day tripping options for the region around Camping La Rivière, for a whole heap of things including its medieval streets, tasty tuck and famed wine. And its town museum, statue museum, tobacco museum and riverside wine house with exhibition on the history of wine growing…
Deeply recommended are the caves and Paleolithic paintings of Lascaux Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You'll likely also dig the Grotte du Grand Roc/Cave of the Big Rock, and the National Prehistory Museum, both back in town at Les Eyzies-de-Tayac-Sireuil.
