  • Five-minute walk to the Coastal Path; Penmon Priory 10 minutes’ drive
  • Communal firepit; campers’ shack with cooker; café and shop
With truly outstanding views across the Menai Strait to Snowdonia, Plas yn Llangoed is a small family run campsite just five minutes’ drive from Beaumaris on the Isle of Anglesey. It’s a family-friendly spot in the grounds of a family house, with a relaxed vibe and the opportunity to do as much or as little as you like. Prefer to chill on site and admire the beautiful mountain views or ‘do’ Anglesey, its stretches of sandy beaches, coastal walks and many historic attractions? However you choose to spend your time, this is a peaceful base with lots of spotless facilities; the owners Emily, Trig, Dan and Lizzie look forward to welcoming you. They are keen to develop an eco-camping experience at Plas yn Llangoed and are striving to have as little impact on the environment as possible. Wood is left stacked as bug hotels and hedges are being repaired and replanted, while you’ll hopefully spot buzzards, woodpeckers and owls around the place too. Now, those spotless amenities. Hot showers, wash basins and washing-up areas (please use the eco-friendly products supplied). A clever addition to the camping field is the campers’ shack with gas hobs, a fridge and USB charging points. Here you can help yourselves to free, sustainably sourced tea, coffee or hot chocolate during the day. No need to worry about breakfast either – pastries are available to order from the on-site shop, which also doubles as a café for that all-important morning caffeine fix.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: I loved this site. I really felt that the campers experience had been considered on every level. They could easily have squeezed way more pitches on to the field but they were well spaced out with longer grass in between, giving a much more private feel. There are communal cooking facilities (really useful when it was too windy to cook at the tent) and campfire. The rustic loos and showers were great! In fact I'm tempted to start using the same eco friendly products at home! The field overlooks the Menai Straight and Snowdonia and we saw birds of prey circling over the field. We had an excellent week, Anglesey didn't disappoint and this site was the icing on the cake. Sorry, I didn't catch the lady's name but she's doing an amazing job. Many thanks!

Disliked: Nothing

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Camp kitchen (with Fridge/Freezer) and electric points, Fabulous communal firepit, which meant you talk to fellow campers! Great sharing of marshmallows and biscuits Eco friendly Bamboo toilet roll Great spacing of pitches, mowed areas in field. Owners really friendly, nothing was any problems. Really genuine… Cars to be parked in car park, not by pitches, which made it really safe for kids to play on main field. Fresh baked croissants avail in shop in the mornings (also tea coffee etc)

Disliked: My only (very small) grumble, was spacing of sinks, to kitchen, to bins… just made things more tricky Very open field, can be very windy

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: The campsite is really well sited with excellent views across to Snowdonia. Tents and some lighter mobile homes occupy a large field with very large pitches which are well spaced out with easy access to the toilets, shower block and washing up facilities. A small number of camper vans can park in a separate area away from the car park. The whole site runs on an eco friendly septic tank and the owner provides all of the high quality (Faith in Nature) eco friendly washing up liquid, shampoo, conditioner and shower gels because of this. There is a sheltered communal area to meet new campers if you desire and the owner has also conveniently placed fridges, a freezer, a gas hob, bbq's, several charging stations for phones, tablets, etc. as well as three large tables and chairs and benches for families to it at. Everything is free to use and there is no hidden charges to use these. There are coffee, tea, hot chocolate and some croissants on offer in the mornings that you can pay for. The site is well situated to go out a visit or do a great number of things across Angelsey. We really enjoyed this campsite and Emily (the owner) is very friendly and helpful.

Disliked: No WiFi at all. (Not necessarily a bad thing!) but maybe some consideration could be made for this at a later date. However, there is good mobile phone coverage across the site.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: The site is beautifully situated with view’s across the Menai straits. The facilities were great. We were unlucky with the weather (rain) and the large shelter meant we we could sit, eat and drink out of the rain for the evening. The focus on eco friendly camping was really considered.

Disliked: No concerns. It was a great place to stay.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: The outdoor covered communal cooking area with gas hob, BBQs (coal and wood supplied!) electric plugs, use of fridges and freezer. Made cooking so much easier. Communal fire pit (lit by the owner - wood supplied) and lawn area. The children were able to play on the lawn whilst we were cooking. The communal fire pit was lovely we were chatting with other families and the children were playing in the evening. Outdoor washing up area, washing up liquid supplied. Running hot water with taps that run continuously. No start stop. Showers were very clean, good pressure and great temperature. Shampoo. Conditioner and body wash supplied. Toilets were clean and well stocked with toilet paper, soap and paper towels. Wheelbarrows supplied to carry your things to and from the pitch. Nice amount of pitches for the facilities supplied, no queues. Warm and friendly welcome and tour. Well managed approach to the site ethos. Quiet from 10pm perfect for young children or people wanting to relax. Long grass between pitches giving privacy.

Local attractions

Culture fiends will find lots to occupy them on Anglesey: the medieval town of Beaumaris (five minutes’ drive) for starters, with its castle, pier and lovely seafront strolls. You have three attractions in one at Penmon Priory (10 minutes) – look for the giant cross inside the ruined Augustinian priory, an ancient well and 15th-century dovecote. Prefer a good stroll? Discover the ruins of Castell Aberlleiniog (half an hour’s walk) tucked into undergrowth in a nature reserve. Keen for some sea air? Anglesey Coastal Path (five minutes’ walk) leads past cliffs, sea arches and churches as it circumnavigates the island, and it’s an easy stroll to the lighthouse at Penmon Point (55 minutes) for views across to Puffin Island. Visit the island in person on a wildlife cruise from Beaumaris for the chance to see grey seals and dolphins, or up the thrill factor with fast-paced rib rides around the coast from Menai Bridge (20 minutes’ drive). Wear the kids out with paddleboarding and kayaking from Plas Menai National Outdoor Centre (half an hour), or for more sedate pursuits, play a round on the 18-hole course at Henlly Golf Club (10 minutes).
