  • Dog-friendly site on a working farm in Rhos on Sea
  • A 25-minute walk from the beach and a 10-minute drive from Llandudno
  • Surrounded by country walks and a short walk from pubs and a shop
Country walks, pub lunches and buckets full of beach trips… to list out every single thing you have to look forward to at Dinarth Hall Caravan and Camping would take some time, as this North Wales site is very conveniently based in the town of Rhos on Sea, 10 minutes’ drive from Llandudno and five minutes’ drive away from Colwyn Bay Beach. If you’re very much a countryside sort of person, it’ll be nice news that the site is on a working farm setting surrounded by fields and country walks with horses frequently passing by the site. There are just basic facilities, including toilets, showers, a washing-up area and a washing machine and dryer for laundry. There’s a lovely country pub just half an hour’s walk away for your supper or an American diner-style restaurant 10 minutes’ walk away in the other direction. If you’d rather sort yourself out, have a wander up the hill to the small shop 10 minutes’ walk away. The bus, which stops at the end of the road, comes just over every 10 minutes if you feeling like abandoning the car for the weekend. Not that you’ll need it that much if you’ve got beach days at the top of your agenda, because it’s only a 25-minute walk to Rhos on Sea beach and Colwyn Bay Beach is also within walking distance. If you’re driving to Colwyn Bay, there’s plenty of parking (and lots of ice cream vans to go with that). You may want to shift your watersports gear or bicycles down there, as there’s a cycling path along the front and often great conditions for some water activities.

What customers say

This campsite has spacious sites and a great location near Llandudno, with friendly staff and a working farm feel. Many guests enjoy the value and quiet setting. However, facilities, especially toilets and showers, are often described as dated and needing updates. Muddy conditions can also be a problem, particularly after rain.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Cheap enough. Plenty space. Ideal for a stop on the way to somewhere.

Good water pressure and temp in showers.

Disliked Ancient toilets and showers. Could do with a regular cleaning schedule.

Faecal matter seen on top of dryer and plenty in the fields?!

A shame as the site has quite a lot of potential. Just seems abit neglected in certain areas.

Power optional grass campsite

Liked Location, nice and easy to find, good access and friendly service. Very reasonably priced probably due to lack of facilities. It was a good stop over, would recommend.

Disliked Facilities are probably a work in progress, used our own motorhome for shower, toilet etc. I understand the site facilities were a bit basic.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked We chose Dinarth Hall as we wanted to pitch our touring caravan on a grass site without EHU within easy reach of Rhos-on-Sea. We knew Dinarth Hall was going to be very different from our normal choice of CL/CS quiet sites.

Sat nav took us close to the entrance, but we were on the edge of a housing estate and there were no apparent signs indicating where the entrance was, so we drove into the farm/equestrian yard with some trepidation.

Once in the yard we found the reception and were booked in and given directions to a choice of two fields without EHU. The access is quite tight right through the farmyard with lots of machinery around.

Our first impressions were that it seemed very crowded as we drove past the 'seasonal' pitches on the right, the field to the left was full with a 'Camping & Caravanning Club' rally, so we chose the furthest field from the farm, which was pretty level with a few lumps & bumps but grassed fairly well.

We set up and stayed for three nights, there was plenty of entertainment as there was a Honda Goldwing event at Llandudno and about 12 owners of these brightly coloured and lavishly adorned bikes/trikes were staying at Dinarth, playing their music and running their engines frequently.

The toilets were old, dated but functional and generally clean, we didn't use the showers so can't comment. The drinking water points were fairly easy to reach from our position , but the Chemical Disposal was by the toilets and quite a distance.

The above may sound negative, but once we had acclimatised to our surroundings, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend Dinarth Hall so long as you are not looking for quiet, peace, tranquility, scenic near views, adults only, luxury showers/toilets.

Great location for easy access to Rhos-on-Sea, Colwyn Bay & Llandudno etc.

Plenty of fairly flat space on the camping fields.

Inexpensive, casual & unregimented.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Really cheap, the girl on reception was really helpful and friendly and there's great views plus it's close to the town. Perfect for one night.

Disliked I'd say the toilet block needs an upgrade. It's an old building and the facilities aren't great. It's a bit of a trek too in the middle of the night! Didn't even consider using the showers!
It also says no noise after 11 but this didn't seem to matter to my karaoke loving neighbours! As reception shuts at 7, I didn't see anyone around enforcing this.

Power optional grass campsite

Liked The country air was good.

Disliked Had to climb over fence for electric hook up. Right next to a big family with kids, so noisy through the night. At 11.45pm I asked them to keep noise down, which fell on deaf ears.
Showers and toilet facilities need updating, and need more.

Local attractions

Llandudno (10 minutes’ drive) is a cracking spot for a good wander, with shops, a pier, a promenade and a beach. You may spot a few goats wandering around the edge of town; they’ll have lost their way from Great Orme (20 minutes) just past Llandudno. The green limestone slopes of the Great Orme are not just for the goats, of course, with a tramway and a cable car providing access to the fab views from the 209-metre slope, a café or a playground. Back in Llandudno, get picked up by one of the open-top buses which run in summer from Llandudno Pier. They head over to stunning Conwy (10 minutes’ drive), past the spectacular 13th-century Conwy Castle, cobbled streets, bakeries and the cobbled streets typical of such a traditional Welsh port town.
