What customers say

Spacious, well-kept site with friendly staff and clean facilities. Lots of pitch space, good walks nearby, on-site bar/pizza. Families loved the play park & goats. Some found showers dated & campers noisy. Great for a relaxing break in a beautiful spot.

Liked Only staying for one night

Disliked Very tired site, cleaning of facilities needs improvement, electrics in showers really need reporting!, an on/off press switch surely should not be near water

Primitive grass campsite (large)

Liked First time out in my new (to me!) van. Read some negative reports but booked anyway as wanted to stay local…Totally unfounded, a lovely clean site, friendly and helpful staff. Good facilities. I read a couple of reviews of complaints about the Children’s play area, if you don’t ever want to hear a child, then book an adults only
Site! I was very near the play park, yes, there was children playing. It’s half term, what does one expect!? But by 9pm it was as quiet as a mouse. So peaceful in the evening. The shower toilet block was pretty tidy, and that was at 10pm at night! This is a wonderful site and I will be returning soon.

Disliked Nothing I didn’t like!

Liked Nothing sadly

Disliked Unisex toilet and shower block - not acceptable especially on family camp site with so many children about - it wasn’t particularly clean some cubicals had no light and others no paper. Hand dryer didn't work

The number of cars on site and the general crowded feeling on our first day - numbers did significantly drop on our second day as did the volume of noise which at times - given we had been placed very close to the children’s play park - was appalling

Primitive grass campsite (large)

Liked Liked the cleanliness, hot powerful showers, drinking water facities, Sams bar, the pizzas, live music and atmosphere.

Disliked Fished at the lake which appeared to have no Carp, only sleepy Bream and lots of smaller fish like Rudd and Roach. Would of liked to have seen Carp in the lake as advertised.

Liked Kids had a great time the natrual trail and goat feeding was a big hit. There was a singer Saturday evening which was good.

Disliked Toilets at the reception area are nice, but the other toilets and shower blocks could do with an update

Liked Loved the the area and surroundings. The children's play park was brill for the older children

Disliked We were put aside a couple wanting a quiet weekend away. We are a family of 3 small children plus we went with 4 other families with children. We where threatened by said persons from the other couple that if we don't turn out music off at 5pm that they would have us kicked off the campsite.

Local attractions

The Westbury White Horse – Wiltshire's famed giant chalk horse carved into the slope of Salisbury Plain – is a 35-minute drive from Blackland Lakes, on the edge of Bratton Downs. Standing 80 feet tall and 170 feet wide, it's viewable for 16 or 17 miles around its setting; from the horse itself, you'll be able to see Bratton Castle and the white horses of Devizes and Alton Barnes. This is most certainly a land of archaeological and world-famed historical highlights: reach the pretty village of Avebury and its three prehistoric stone circles within 10 minutes' drive and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Stonehenge within 40. If your tastes are more modern, a vintage motor museum is less than 10 minutes' walk away. Take a trip out to any of the area's market towns such as Calne, Devizes, Chippenham, Corsham, Royal Wootton Bassett and Marlborough, all within 25 minutes' drive. Bath is about 35 minutes away. For peaceful sightseeing within a short drive, try Bowood House and its landscaped gardens, five miles away, and the National Trust village of Lacock eight miles from the site, a magical place that's had screen appearances in the likes of Downton Abbey and Harry Potter.
