  • Peaceful secluded park over a 30-acre wildlife haven
  • Bournemouth and Christchurch 20 minutes' drive
  • Woodlands walks, pitch and putt, library and boules all available
Spread over 30 acres of Dorset woodland, river, heathland and lakes, Back of Beyond meanders over countryside naturally inhabited by a wide variety of wildlife: look out for deer, squirrels, moles, rabbits and the soaring sights of birds including the resident woodpecker. The site is dog friendly too (apart from in one of the wildlife-laden accommodation areas) and there's a 10-acre woodland area set aside especially for canines. Restful pastimes include boules, woodland walks, and a five-acre nine-hole pitch and putt course among the squirrels, moles and rabbits (hire the necessary bits and pieces on site). Facilities here include heated toilet and shower blocks, a private disabled shower room, hairdryers, washing-up areas, a reception area, Monty's Bar and a shop. Essential supplies (food and beer) can be found at the two excellent pubs within walking distance; supermarkets, restaurants and two caravan and camping centres are within a few minutes by car.

What customers say

This adult-only campsite earns rave reviews for its spotless facilities, roomy pitches, and welcoming staff. Guests love the calm vibe, great dog walks, and the popular on-site bar/food trucks. WiFi can be spotty. It's mostly quiet, though occasional noise from nearby sites or roads has been mentioned. A solid spot for exploring the area.

Emma's Glade primitive grass campervan or tent campsite (no pets, wild)

Liked Well organised, with polite staff.
Very peaceful in the wild camping area.
Facilities are very good and well maintained.

Disliked If we are being picky, you can just hear the A31 road in the evening. But only just.

Pub fantastic very cheap for drinks and absolutely stunning site one of the best me and hubby were on and we loved the idea with the electric been on metre and took off her card 5 days later fish and chip van amazing food pizza van was ok too will absolutely be coming back

Disliked Not a thing to dislike

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you. The metering work really well as everyone gets a very generous free amount and its only the heavy users who need to pay anything on top, and that is only 25p per Kwh.
Many thanks again.

Powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked An excellent, well managed camp site with generously sized pitches. Really top class ablution facilities. A well run communal social / bar area. A well stocked shop on site. Good catering by way of a varied nightly food van. We really enjoyed our stay here.

Disliked Directions to the site from the A31 are not particularly clear by satnav following of postcode. They are not specific enough. Best to follow the campsite approach information.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for the top score. Yes, we do say in the arrival email to please follow our instructions as not all sat nav have our address precisely. We have approached them all but, still waiting for some to update. Many thanks again.

Primitive grass campervan, tent or trailer tent campsite (pet friendly)

Liked Quality, organised, well managed, friendly & peaceful campsite.
Superb facilities & amenities . Very clean & tidy site. Pitches are spacious & very thought out. Adult only & dog friendly is a big bonus. Staff are professional & hard working. Big up in such extreme summer heat! Bar area & food of high order. A fantastic campsite on fantastic grounds. Thankyou BOB team

Disliked Absolutely nought to dislike.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you Peter. We are so glad you had a great time with us. Yes, the heat is making running a park at capacity fairly challenging but we all work very hard to make it happen. Guests can see what the staff put in and often comment which is really appreciated. Do come again soon.

Nice site. You will need a car or bikes to explore the local area.

From the manager: Good to hear you enjoyed your stay with us. With regards to bar prices, we do try to keep them competitive and we believe that we compare with other local licensed premises. Happy Hour is available 5 days a week and in addition to this we offer other promotions on drinks whenever we can to give our customers additional savings.

Emma's Glade primitive grass campervan or tent campsite (no pets, wild)

Liked Absolutely everything!!! Especially no children, what a bonus. We couldn't bring our dogs as one is too reactive and the other too old. Emma's Glade was perfect for us to not have a constant reminder that we'd left our fur babies at home. Bathroom facilities excellent, as were the washing up stations. We also loved Monty's Bar in the gorgeous sunshine with the delicious cocktails. We had pizza from the van on the Friday evening which was fabulous, great to have the option of not having to cook!! Overall absolutely brilliant, so good we stayed an extra night!

Disliked Having to pack up and go home... :(

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you so much Sheena. We love it when our guests enjoy their stay so much they don't want to leave - we don't either :)

Route directions

Some guests have issues with the site address when put into some satnav devices. Please print out these directions and follow these when you are close to the site to ensure you find the site easily. From the north or east: From the M3, take J14 onto the M27 westbound and join the A31 (signposted Ringwood). Pass Ringwood; stay on the A31 to St. Leonards and pass St. Leonards Hotel on left. At the next roundabout (signed Boundary Lane), turn right into the site lane. Take care: this turn is set back from the roundabout by a few yards, so look for the site sign and one for Shamba. From the west: Follow the signs for Ringwood on the A31 eastbound. Pass The Woodman pub on your left. At the next roundabout go straight over and immediately left into the site lane. Drive straight down the lane, pass Shamba and go through the twin towers to the site barrier. When you arrive at the barrier system press the button for attention.

Local attractions

Back of Beyond has Avon Heath and Moors Valley Country Parks, Ringwood and Avon Heath within simple cycling distance (hire a bike on site); Bournemouth and Poole a little further on and, for city sightseers, Christchurch and Salisbury within 20 and 40 minutes. Maps of local bike routes are provided free in reception. If you’re sightseeing via car, the A31 is half a mile away for access to the New Forest and the Jurassic Coast. Very varied sights and activities are handy within an easy five to 15 minutes’ drive, whether your tastes range towards pottering around museums, historic houses and New Forest villages, birdwatching on Avon Heath, picking up bargains at boot sales/shopping centres, or sampling the best of cream teas and local produce in Dorset cafés and restaurants. The biggest undercover market in the south of England, including a massive flea market and car boot sale every Saturday, is at Wimborne a few miles away. Christchurch, Poole, Salisbury, Winchester and the Jurassic coast are 20 to 30 minutes’ drive away for a mammoth amount of things to see and do to suit all tastes: miles of award-winning beaches, sea fishing, fossil walks and National Trust houses and gardens.
