  • Peaceful secluded park over a 30-acre wildlife haven
  • Bournemouth and Christchurch 20 minutes' drive
  • Woodlands walks, pitch and putt, library and boules all available
Spread over 30 acres of Dorset woodland, river, heathland and lakes, Back of Beyond meanders over countryside naturally inhabited by a wide variety of wildlife: look out for deer, squirrels, moles, rabbits and the soaring sights of birds including the resident woodpecker. The site is dog friendly too (apart from in one of the wildlife-laden accommodation areas) and there's a 10-acre woodland area set aside especially for canines. Restful pastimes include boules, woodland walks, and a five-acre nine-hole pitch and putt course among the squirrels, moles and rabbits (hire the necessary bits and pieces on site). Facilities here include heated toilet and shower blocks, a private disabled shower room, hairdryers, washing-up areas, a reception area, Monty's Bar and a shop. Essential supplies (food and beer) can be found at the two excellent pubs within walking distance; supermarkets, restaurants and two caravan and camping centres are within a few minutes by car.

What customers say

This adults-only site gets rave reviews for super-clean, modern facilities, roomy pitches & great dog walks. Staff are friendly, Monty's bar is a hit, and food trucks are a handy bonus. Peaceful woodland/lake setting is a big plus. Some road noise & Wi-Fi hiccups noted, but improvements are coming. A tranquil, well-kept getaway folks want to revisit.

Emma's Glade primitive grass campervan or tent campsite (no pets, wild)

Liked Nice atmosphere, great facilities, decent prices.

Disliked Promoting of Jeremy Clarkson and his products. Bar shuts early.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for the 9/10 review and we are very pleased you enjoyed Emma's Glade. It is a lovely camping area.
We do only run the bar 4pm - 8pm as we are a tranquil park and need to be very mindful of the noise. This generally is very well received. We do have an off license as well, and there is a pub 10 minutes walk away if you wanted to drink later.
We do sell Hawkstone lager and Cider as it promotes British farming. We try to buy local where possible and we are keen to help the British farmers wherever we can. I am sorry if you are not a fan of Jeremy Clarkson but a large amount of our guests really enjoy his lager and cider.
We do have alternate offerings as well if you do not.
Many thanks again.

Would return but not in Emmas glade due to midges.

Emma's Glade primitive grass campervan or tent campsite (no pets, wild)

Liked No kids
Lots of dogs
Food trucks
Fantastic onside bar and friendly staff.

Disliked Midges. Bitten to death.
Pitchup stated fire pits allowed, not available to rent at an extortionate price!
Emmas glade not quiet due to large groups.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your 8/10 review and we are so glad you enjoyed the park so much.
In answer to your dislikes.
Midges are common in May and is part of camping. We do have citronella candles and spray replant in the shop.
We do allow firepits but due to our woodland park we cant allow any old firepit due to the fire risks. So we provide the thick safe off the ground ones, including all the safe briquette wood which works out at £4 a night for the firepit. These are delivered to you and removed and cleaned afterward. Not extortionate I would say.
Emma's glade is a large wooded area that we only allow 20 tents in. We don't take groups as we are a tranquil park.
I hope you do come again.

Powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Spacious and very well maintained pitches. The site was immaculate. All facilities were absolutely perfect, from dishwashing to the onsite dogwash (with shampoo) everything was there and very well looked after. The shop was the perfect mix of camp necessities and lovely little treats. All staff were friendly and helpful. The enclosed dog walk was particularly helpful in the early mornings and evening.

Disliked Personal dislikes, I probably should have read the description / looked at in on a "street view"...the site is down a stretch of lane, with other holiday parks, just off a very busy road, which didn't really quiet down at night. It was very uniform and a bit too structured. The site was silent from about 9.30 - even walking on the gravel felt too loud.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for the 9/10 review and your recommendation. The dog walk woodland and dog shower are great and very popular. Down our lane which is over half a mile from the main road, is 1 other small campsite and an equestrian centre. The park was laid out for their services when it was built in the 60s. It is very wooded and mature.
We are a tranquil park so it is a quiet park. That is why we are quiet by 9.30 which the high majority of of guests like.
Many thanks again.

Such a peaceful, well-kept site with really friendly staff. Everything was super clean and it’s a great spot to just relax and switch off.
The Bar and food vans are brilliant.
Can’t fault it at all – we’ll definitely be back 👍

Powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite (XL)

Liked Everything. From the pitch, to the spotless wash/toilet facilities, to the shop, to the bar, the nightly different choice of take away, the walks in the woods (the pups loved it soooo much), the peaceful strolls around the pond. If you want to be spoilt on a site choose this one and sit back and just chill. No need to go further.
If your into bird watching then this is the site for you.
