  • Holiday park a short stroll from the sandy surfing beach Croyde Bay
  • Surfboards and wetsuits for hire; surfing lessons available
  • Tropical indoor pool, indoor/outdoor play, beach café and kids' club
Sick of being rudely awakened by your alarm clock? Try a Ruda wakening instead: after a blissfully peaceful lie-in, take a gulp of fresh, clean air and stroll a few steps down to the golden sands and sparkling waves… Ruda Holiday Park sits right alongside the sweeping sandy surfing beach of Croyde Bay on Devon’s Gold Coast. Croyde is a popular destination for surfers, and it’d be rude not to have a go while you’re here. Guests can hire a variety of boards, wetsuits and other kit from Ruda Holiday Park’s dedicated surf shop, and instructors from the renowned Surf South West school are on hand if you want lessons. If the weather isn't playing nice, head for Ruda’s tropical indoor pool complex, where there are water rapids and underwater geysers, waterfalls, hydrojets and one humongous slide. This site is great for kids of all ages, with the children's club, adventure playground, indoor soft play area, tennis court and activities like 'tots and tunes' or character dining (this last one's during high season only). There's also a good choice of on-site food options, including a beach café and an ice-cream parlour, plus a sprightly schedule of evening entertainment, and comprehensive essential amenities.

What customers say

Great spot, steps from the beach, with super friendly staff. Reviewers loved the clean facilities, roomy pitches, and handy amenities. Entertainment's a hit, though some found the washrooms a bit old-fashioned. Can get busy with occasional noise. Solid pick for a seaside break.

Liked Site was great location, pool was fun, beach was clean and local town was walking distance.

Disliked The toilets were the only let down for me, they need to be cleaned more regularly in peak season!! Often dirty and no loo roll.

Powered grass tent or trailer tent campsite (no pets)

Liked Nice park, very busy but quiet at the same time. Drinks in the clubhouse were very expensive; showers and toilets were clean; the pitch was a good size. Bring heavy-duty pegs, as the ground was a little hard. Pitch has stone underneath

Disliked No fridge to store icepacks like other sites

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite (no pets)

Liked Location to beach and to Baggy point walk great 😊 Swimming pool was excellent. Play area was good. There are options for eating on site as well as food trucks, pubs and restaurants nearby. Closeness to Croyde village also easy.

Disliked Busy site, quite noisy on Saturday night. Toilet facilities would be better if there were private sink areas rather than washing your face and brushing teeth with other people also ceiling in showers is reflective- odd. Toilet blocks could also do with another clean and toilet rolls replenished between evening when everyone comes back from beach and morning. Also we weren’t allowed a bbq due to fire risk which we completely understand but then meant we had to eat out more rather than cook our own. Do not recommend fish and chips- overcooked and brown.

Local attractions

Don’t miss the chance to explore the Devonshire coastline surrounding Ruda Holiday Park. Recommendations include a walk to the headland at Baggy Point where you’ll be rewarded with outstanding views; a saunter along spectacular Saunton Sands, and a delve into the dunes at Braunton Burrows. Croyde is a perfectly pretty village of thatched cottages, tearooms, pubs, restaurants, cafés and (but of course) surf shops. There are umpteen visitor attractions in the area, particularly for animal enthusiasts, who can come face to face with life-sized model dinosaurs and a host of their living, breathing descendants at Combe Martin Wildlife Park; practise their trout pouts on some fishy friends at Ilfracombe’s aquarium; or get hands on with the animals at the Big Sheep, the area’s most eccentric day out: sheep racing and stunt ducks, anyone…?
