Primitive grass campsite

Liked: Beautiful small campsite in a stunning location with excellent facilities that were sparkling clean throughout our stay. Michele was friendly and welcoming. Pitches are a really good size with ample space and we loved the way they have used the mower to create the boundaries. Helpful to have a level pitch as well. We had a lot of rain during our 2-night stay and the ground drained well with no mud or puddles. We enjoyed 2 spectacular sunsets and a couple of easy walks. We will definitely be back.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked: Wow - what a find! My understanding that this fabulous site hasn't been open to those camping or motorhoming for very long, however I'm sure that the owners are going to enjoy a very successful business!. The location is very rural with great views across the Hampshire countryside however the marvellous Ropley Station on the Watercress Line is only a 10 minute walk away which gives you the opportunity to jump on the heritage railway and get yourself to the nearby towns of Alresford or Alton for good shops and good food. The facilities on site are of a very high standard and very clean, and the pitches are generous in size and well separated from neighbours. Would we go again? Most definately and thoroughly recommended however I'd rather keep this site a secret for ourselves really!

Disliked: There's nothing to dislike!

From the manager: Hello Shaun, I am so pleased you enjoyed your stay. We only opened up the main field c. 6 weeks ago with these new wildlife-friendly pitches. It does also give us a lot of joy to be able to share our site with our guests so they too can also get to experience all this setting has to offer. Hopefully you will book to visit us again in the future. Thanks for taking the time to write this lovely review. Best wishes, Michele

Powered grass campsite

Liked: We had the most peaceful stay here, the site has amazing views, it's is quiet and they do well to balance between us and nature. The facilities are the best we have ever seen, the kitchen is fantastic and especially for those in tents. The toilets and showers were immaculate with the site cleaning them at least twice a day! There is a petrol station with a Co-op that is a 40 minute round trip, walking and a village shop just a little further away. The park and ride into Winchester is about a 20 minute drive so there are places to explore if you can drag yourself away from the site. The WiFi can be a bit slow from the site and on your own devices but to be expected with the location and did not bother us.

Disliked: We were in our motorhome and had our own cooking facilities but the pitch next to us had a mini BBQ going, all very safe and in hand. The grass was very dry and the land owners next door did pop their head over the fence as they were concerned for the hay they are growing, understandable but we were asked to tell the pitch next to us to be careful which was all a polite exchange but slightly awkward. The land owners should have the site owners on speed dial for issues like this, when we get our booking confirmation it does state no fires or BBQs in dry weather but one persons opinion on "dry" differs from the next. It wasn't a huge issue but worth mentioning.
