Lee Valley Campsite, Sewardstone: The cabins

General

  • Wildlife haven with easy access to London
  • Close to whitewater rafting, bike and walking paths
  • London travel cards available to buy

In a wildlife haven among the traffic-free trails of the 1,000-acre River Lee Country Park – and all only 40 minutes by train from central London: have a stay at Greater London's Lee Valley Campsite, Sewardstone to escape the city for a weekend, or to use the site as a nifty rural base for getting into the urban for day trips. (Either way, do take quite a bit of time to get around the country park for ambling, pedalling and wildlife watching among its rare resident species).

Lee Valley Campsite has a play area, a shop selling essentials and one-day travel cards for London, a launderette with ironing facilities, and heated showers and toilet blocks. Dogs are welcome.

The site also has free wifi – just the ticket when researching which museum or shopping area to get to in London first...?

Please note

Facilities/activities including washing machine and hair dryer are subject to extra charges payable on arrival.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

The grocery shop is open between 01/03 and 31/01.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

Stayed for the night, in a tent. All the facilities you need and a little shop which has most things.

    Disliked:

We arrived by bike and asked if there was anywhere we could lock it, we were told no.

Couple who arrived later, were able to lock their bikes in a bike store, where the rental bikes where. Was a bit annoying to be told one thing, but see others do another.

Pitches were OK. Security was good. Shop had some essentials. Close to many parks and other places of interest. Play park on site for the kids was very good.

    Disliked:

Pitches were very close together, when our awning was up it nearly touched the next pitch. We had to park our car away from the van in a parking area. Toilets were not always clean. Traffic passing through was a bit quick. For what was an expensive site, not the best.
