Lee Valley Campsite, Sewardstone: Hardstandings available for all sizes of caravans, motorhomes and RVs

General

  • Wildlife haven with easy access to London
  • Close to whitewater rafting, bike and walking paths
  • London travel cards available to buy

In a wildlife haven among the traffic-free trails of the 1,000-acre River Lee Country Park – and all only 40 minutes by train from central London: have a stay at Greater London's Lee Valley Campsite, Sewardstone to escape the city for a weekend, or to use the site as a nifty rural base for getting into the urban for day trips. (Either way, do take quite a bit of time to get around the country park for ambling, pedalling and wildlife watching among its rare resident species).

Lee Valley Campsite has a play area, a shop selling essentials and one-day travel cards for London, a launderette with ironing facilities, and heated showers and toilet blocks. Dogs are welcome.

The site also has free wifi – just the ticket when researching which museum or shopping area to get to in London first...?

The grocery shop is open between 01/03 et 31/01.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

Friendly lovely staff, clean facilities, pid was immaculate. Good communication. Would stay again but not in the pods near the road.

    Disliked:

The pods for 2 were close to the road, in the night lorries passed constantly and vibrated number 8. The larger pods and pitches are far enough away for it not to effect them.

Uneven hard standing pitches full of weeds and nettles. Smelly toilets a long way from our pitch. Water a long way from our pitch. Contractor vans and caravans with noisy occupants.

The site was pretty and not too big, with plenty of room for kids to run around. Nice level pitches and enough shade. Picnic tables were a nice touch and fire pits could be hired on site.

Facilities were clean and worked well.

Easy to travel as a mixed group of cabins and tents and be close by

    Staff were helpful and friendly

    Disliked:

We had an extremely noisy group staying over night who kept everyone up - but there were no staff on site overnight, so nothing could be done.

  • Woodland cabin (2 adults and 2 children, no pets)

  • Liked:

The cabin is very clean and cosy. Lovely space for three adults. Loved the tables outside which we used for breakfast. The local walk was just behind us so really easy access. It walks down a river which you can get to a wildlife park. It has dog friendly option so would love to come again with my dogs. Noticed the doggy daycare next door so I know if I wanted to go out there is somewhere my dogs can go.

Covid safe and very clean facilities. Toilets and showers were just opposite. Car was parked just outside them as it was outside our cabin.

A bus to London goes every 30 mins. We left at 6.30am and cam back at 1.30am. The end of the line for three bus is the train station and other way is campsite so easy to use.

Staff was lovely and friendly. Was tempted to hire bikes but chose not too as we were only there for 3 days.

Avoid this site it looks like an abandoned encampment06/27/2021

Our hearts sank as soon as we drove from reception to find our pitch. It looked like an abandoned campsite in need of some serious grounds maintenance. Hard standing pitches had so many weeds and grass growing through the stones they were actually really grass pitches. The hook up was only 10amp not 16amp. There were what looked like abandoned vehicles parked up rotting away on some of the pitches. The grounds were so poorly kept. The bin areas were a mess. We didn’t use the showers or toilets as we are self contained. On speaking to the people in the motorhome next to us, they were equally disappointed and said that there is a sister site that they usually stay on and that one is really nice. We had paid for 3 nights but only stayed for 2 because the whole site was so depressing we just didn’t want to go back there for the last night.
