  • Eco-conscious green field site in the South Downs National Park
  • Eastbourne 15 minutes’ drive; Pevensey 20 minutes; Brighton 45 minutes
  • Showers, toilets and food truck on site; pubs a short drive away
At the eastern edge of the South Downs National Park, with cracking views over its green vistas and just a 10-minute drive from the famed Seven Sisters walk, Bramley Park Camping is an East Sussex site in tune with its natural surroundings. The owners are seasoned campers, bringing back the best ideas from their travels to create a place where nature can be enjoyed with as little impact as possible. Along with a respect for nature comes an easy-going vibe and a warm welcome for all guests, including your four-legged family members. You can choose where to pitch and park your car alongside. Solar lights keep light pollution to a minimum, and guests are asked to keep noise low late at night – a bonus for others on site as well as the wildlife that’s made its home in the surrounding protected woodland. Every weekend (plus on weekdays during peak season only), the on-site food station serves fresh pizzas, breakfast and coffee. If you're still peckish, the on-site shop stocks camping essentials, drinks, ice creams and bags of ice. Within about 20 minutes’ drive there are enough great beaches to fill a whole holiday: Eastbourne and Bexhill have a traditional seaside resort feel, or you could go for a more out-of-the-way day out at Pevensey Bay, Birling Gap or Cuckmere Haven. The bright lights of Brighton are a 45-minute drive away. Other outdoor adventures await close by with the South Downs Way National Trail linking up with footpaths about two miles from the site. Five miles away, Friston Forest has a family-friendly cycle route and a more challenging trail for mountain bikers. Facilities on site include showers and toilets (including disabled facilities), a washing-up area and recycling. You can hire firepits and portable chargers and buy logs. There are cafés, takeaways, pubs and food shops within about 25 minutes’ walk or a few minutes’ drive.

What customers say

Spacious, friendly site with great South Downs views. Clean facilities, especially hot showers, and a popular weekend food van. Staff are welcoming. Can get busy, sometimes with crowded facilities and noise. Minor points: pricey shop, need more washing-up sinks.

Primitive grass and earth tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite (wild)

Liked Great location for exploring local coastline and seaside town.
We really liked the addition of the food truck with tasty pizzas and picnic benches.
Facilities were cleaned and maintained regularly

Disliked Disliked not having an allocated pitch. The site felt overcrowded in some areas and had more of a festival vibe at times, which was not for us.

Primitive grass and earth tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite (wild)

Liked 15 min drive from Eastbourne seafront.
Large field and you can select where you want to pitch. Catering onsite in evenings and breakfasts.

Disliked Lack of water pressure on taps. Not a vast amount of showers and toilet cubicles for a large camping site. Overpriced and small portions of catering onsite (chips were £4.50 for approx 25-30 chips!!). Overpriced pitch overall!

Primitive grass and earth tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite (wild)

Liked We loved this site. It is a very large open green space with showers, toilets and fresh water.

Fire pits can be hired.

They also cook pizzas, garlic bread and chips to die for, have a small shop and do coffees, hot chocolates and breakfast.
Really well run and the hosts are lovely people.

Dog friendly too!

Disliked Nothing not to like!

Primitive grass and earth tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite (wild)

Liked The site is well placed for Eastbourne and there are nice views of the South Downs. Pizza was great on the Saturday night.

Disliked We felt that it was very expensive and had to queue for showers and toilets. They are not allocated pitches so we had to move our van a few times as more and more people arrived and parked closer and closer to us.

Primitive grass and earth tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite (wild)

Liked Flat large field, lots of space so despite having lots of people there it didn't feel too busy. Liked the pizza stand and the fact there were staff around. Water taps and sand for fires were dotted around near by.

Disliked The toilets and showers are in trailer type temporary blocks rather than permanent buildings. Had to wait for showers at busy times and during our stay the water pressure on the taps was very low and the flushes didnt work in 3 of the toilets which wasn't great for the price pp.

Primitive grass and earth tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite (wild)

Liked Lovely flat field with a nice view if you pitch down the far end. Food truck served nice coffee and rolls for a reasonable price. The staff at the food van were lovely. Close to Eastbourne and Lewes which are definitely worth a visit. Enough toilets and water stations in my opinion.

Disliked This site was extremely busy. So if you prefer a more peaceful stay, I'd say this isn't for you! Lots of people playing music and talking loudly after 10pm and I couldn't see any staff members telling people it's quiet time. Luckily we were right down the far end so this didn't affect us but I'd have complained if i were near those tents. I don't think there are enough showers or washing up stations for a campsite this big and the showers were very hot. The toilets are in one big block so not much privacy.

Local attractions

If you’re walking along the South Downs Way, about three and a half miles from site look out for the Long Man of Wilmington, a 235ft-high figure etched on the side of the chalk hill. Head to Pevensey Castle and Pevensey Bay to see a very famous spot from British history. This beach is said to be where William the Conqueror came ashore in 1066 before the Battle of Hastings. The site of the battle itself is half an hour’s drive away from site, six miles outside Hastings and handily enough called Battle so you can’t miss it. If entertaining the kids is on the agenda, Knockhatch Adventure Park (15 minutes’ drive) and Drusillas Park (20 minutes) – both with rides, zoo and playgrounds – should be just the ticket.
