  • Eco-conscious green field site in the South Downs National Park
  • Eastbourne 15 minutes’ drive; Pevensey 20 minutes; Brighton 45 minutes
  • Showers, toilets and food truck on site; pubs a short drive away
At the eastern edge of the South Downs National Park, with cracking views over its green vistas and just a 10-minute drive from the famed Seven Sisters walk, Bramley Park Camping is an East Sussex site in tune with its natural surroundings. The owners are seasoned campers, bringing back the best ideas from their travels to create a place where nature can be enjoyed with as little impact as possible. Along with a respect for nature comes an easy-going vibe and a warm welcome for all guests, including your four-legged family members. You can choose where to pitch and park your car alongside. Solar lights keep light pollution to a minimum, and guests are asked to keep noise low late at night – a bonus for others on site as well as the wildlife that’s made its home in the surrounding protected woodland. Every weekend (plus on weekdays during peak season only), the on-site food station serves fresh pizzas, breakfast and coffee. If you're still peckish, the on-site shop stocks camping essentials, drinks, ice creams and bags of ice. Within about 20 minutes’ drive there are enough great beaches to fill a whole holiday: Eastbourne and Bexhill have a traditional seaside resort feel, or you could go for a more out-of-the-way day out at Pevensey Bay, Birling Gap or Cuckmere Haven. The bright lights of Brighton are a 45-minute drive away. Other outdoor adventures await close by with the South Downs Way National Trail linking up with footpaths about two miles from the site. Five miles away, Friston Forest has a family-friendly cycle route and a more challenging trail for mountain bikers. Facilities on site include showers and toilets (including disabled facilities), a washing-up area and recycling. You can hire firepits and portable chargers and buy logs. There are cafés, takeaways, pubs and food shops within about 25 minutes’ walk or a few minutes’ drive.

What customers say

Spacious, well-located campsite with clean facilities and friendly staff. Campers love the flat pitches, hot showers, and the handy on-site food van. Some mention occasional noise and dated facilities at busy times, but the relaxed vibe and easy access to local sights are big pluses.

Unpowered grass and earth campervan, tent or trailer tent site (wild)

Liked De place, and space, the enormous amount of ripe brambles ready for the picking, service at check-in and services provided (breakfast and dinner). There's even a miniscule shop for the true necessities.

Disliked Cleanliness was slightly below average. Espacially the toilets and showers.

Unpowered grass and earth campervan, tent or trailer tent site (wild)

Liked Bramley Campsite was a really lovely place to stay. The staff were incredibly friendly from the moment we arrived and couldn’t do enough for us. The facilities were well looked after, with clean toilets and showers throughout our stay.

It has that back-to-basics camping feel, but with a little touch of luxury — especially having a pizzeria on site, which was a great bonus. What really stood out for me was how accommodating and helpful all the staff were. A very welcoming campsite that I’d happily recommend.

Unpowered grass and earth campervan, tent or trailer tent site (wild)

Liked Location for Cuckmere Haven was the reason we booked

Disliked It was school summer holidays but essentially it’s just a large free-for-all field full of families and their kids running about on their camping holidays. There’s showers and toilets alongside an on site food joint. In hindsight, as a 30-ish yr old couple who like camping for the outdoors, this definitely wasn’t the vibe we were seeking.

Far from peaceful, music blaring across the campsite towards midnight - way past the unenforced 10pm curfew - alongside drones being launched and flying all around during our stay. Not a lot of ‘presence’ by the team who never really left reception.

Liked Really lovely site. Check in lady was very helpful and friendly. Extremely flat grass land with space for a high number of campers. Facilities on site included washing up facilities, separate toilets, mixed showers and larger single shower units with hot warm provided. Also available pizza and breakfast cob van. The site has everything a camper needs. Definelty worth a visit, we all really enjoyed our time here. Thank you!

Disliked Toliets and shower floors can get dirty quickly with grass and dirt being walked in. Not a fault of the site though.

Local attractions

If you’re walking along the South Downs Way, about three and a half miles from site look out for the Long Man of Wilmington, a 235ft-high figure etched on the side of the chalk hill. Head to Pevensey Castle and Pevensey Bay to see a very famous spot from British history. This beach is said to be where William the Conqueror came ashore in 1066 before the Battle of Hastings. The site of the battle itself is half an hour’s drive away from site, six miles outside Hastings and handily enough called Battle so you can’t miss it. If entertaining the kids is on the agenda, Knockhatch Adventure Park (15 minutes’ drive) and Drusillas Park (20 minutes) – both with rides, zoo and playgrounds – should be just the ticket.
