  • On the edge of woodland with views of Lakeland hills from the grounds
  • A five-minute drive to Dungeon Ghyll Force and 10 to Skelwith Bridge
  • Walks on famed trails of Langdale Pikes accessible from the park
Looking to lay your head in the Lake District for a hol wandering around famed fells and tarns? Venture out into some of the best scenery in Britain from your comfy Cumbria spot at Greenhowe Caravans, less than a mile from Great Langdale. This site surrounded by legendary Lakeland hills is in a quiet and secluded area edged by woodland and with walks starting right outside its gates. Set off for the Langdale Pikes past craggy Whitegill Ravine – perhaps to tackle Pavey Ark, Pike Of Stickle and Harrison Stickle, around a 50-minute walk away – or take on longer treks to poetically named fells like Crinkle Crags and Pike O’Blisco around two and a half hours away on foot. Seeking something less strenuous on the legs? Well-known waterfall Dungeon Ghyll Force and the flatter paths around it are accessible on an easy 25-minute stroll. Designated drivers might be pleased to note that you can also walk to the Sticklebarn bar, half a mile away on foot… Got clothes muddy on meanders through the hills? A laundry with hot and cold water, washing machines, tumble dryers, iron and ironing board are at the park (just pick up tokens for the machines in reception).

Local attractions

Of course, it's all about the walks on a Lake District trip… but that's not to say there aren't alternative activities and attractions to seek out as well. Bounce over to the Beatrix Potter Gallery, 25 minutes’ drive away, for a look at the author and artist’s illustrations displayed in a 17th-century cottage, or wander to Wray Castle, a National Trust property, to admire the neo-gothic structure and have a mosey around the grounds. Itching to get out on the water? Paddleboarding courses are to be had at Keswick (a 55-minute drive) and the Ullswater steamers are within an hour's drive. And if you'd rather get your kicks rock climbing, the Langdale Boulders are a mere 20-minute walk from Greenhowe.
