What customers say

Praise for stunning, peaceful spot amid nature. "Back to basics" with no phone signal. Clean facilities, hot showers, friendly owners. Close to hikes & pub. Downsides: shower distance & wet weather ground.

Liked Lovely setting, great facilities and a really peaceful spot by the stream. Handy being only a short walk to a decent pub also.

Primitive grass campervan campsite

Liked Fabulous location, decent pitch size, good toilet/shower facilities, quiet. Even managed to get a bit of mobile internet (Giffgaff/O2) to check the weather. The Yew Tree pub is 5 mins walk away and does lovely food. Pints are a little pricey but they have a captive audience, so why not!

Disliked I only discovered pizzas weren't on after I arrived. Understandable reason but as they'd known for a few weeks it would have been nice to have been informed beforehand, but that is a very minor gripe, and the pub is open Weds-Sun.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked We really like this little campsite! Owners are friendly, site is well kept and clean, and the location is just perfect.
The fact that there is a good bus network running through seatoller and an excellent pub round the corner are just added bonuses too😊

Primitive grass campervan campsite

Liked Amazing views, great location, enjoyed my stay. Toilets clean and central in campsite with fresh drinking water available. Dan was very helpful and suggested a lovely walk I could do if the weather wasn’t great. As it was I managed a great walk up Castle Crag and over to Derwent water and back. Just stunning everywhere.

Disliked Nothing ☺️

Primitive grass campervan campsite

Liked Laid back feel with lovely clean facilities and a personal welcome from the owner. Right by the river with lovely views. Shop and homemade pizzas at the farm on certain days. I’ll make sure I book for those days next time!

Disliked I couldn’t see as many van pitches as advertised, but maybe a couple were using two. Definitely bring levelling blocks if you’re parking a van in the field. Showers are a short walk away, not sure how accessible it is for those with mobility issues.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Loved loved loved Seatoller campsite. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a bit of peace, with no internet and being in a beautiful spot for lots of good walks, like Scafell and Great Gable. It's also well connected by the local buses so it's easy to visit Keswick and beyond if you fancy a trip out. I will definitely be back.

Disliked I liked everything.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Stunning surroundings.
Really decent bloke who runs it - very friendly and helpful.
Very well organised setup on site - pitches are divided up and space to park your car next to your pitch.
Beautiful river next to some of the pitches.
Great location for hiking - accessible to various routes from the site without needing to drive.
Firepits permitted - handy because I cook my meals on mine. Just don't burn the grass!

Disliked Only criticism is that the showers are not on site - bit of walk away at the farm, but fine if you don't mind the walk.

Local attractions

Dust off those hiking boots, for Seatoller’s surrounds are stacked with walking trails to suit all comers, from those seeking a gentle stroll through woodland and across heather-strewn fells to those in search of more vertical challenges. The beginning of a couple of the national park’s top climbs are easy to get to too – Great Gable (an hour and a half) and mighty Scafell (a couple of hours). Roam a little further afield for hikes on Catbells (15 minutes’ drive), around the Castlerigg stone circle (25 minutes) or on the slopes of Helvellyn (half an hour away, and a fine choice for mountain bikers too). If you’d like to have a crack at climbing in a controlled environment, try the via ferrata route at Honister Slate Mine, five minutes away, and worth a stop for an underground mine tour even if you’re not up to clinging on to crags. All sound a little tiring? Less demanding days out include the Lake District Wildlife Park (half an hour) and the sculpture trail at Rydal Hall Gardens (40 minutes). It’s worth knocking around Keswick for a bit too, visiting the eccentric Puzzling Place exhibition and Derwent Pencil Museum or taking tipples at the town’s brewery. Alpaca trekking at Lingholm Estate and Whinlatter Forest are some other splendid days out.
