  • Small, peaceful and pet-friendly site in the coastal village of Drigg
  • Beach and dunes half an hour’s walk; Wastwater 20 minutes’ drive
  • Directly on the Cumbrian Coastal Route; food shop on site
Stay overnight between sand dunes and the fells of the Lake District at Partfield Park, in the cute Cumbrian coastal village of Drigg. The dunes and Drigg's beach are just half an hour's walk away from this small, family-run retreat, and fells and lakes are a short drive in the opposite direction – paddles on Wastwater are just 20 minutes away, to be precise. Your walking prospects are also quite spectacular from here. First of all, the site is directly on the Cumbrian Coastal Route for dreamy strolls along the seafront. Wasdale is half an hour’s drive away for those who'd like to take on England’s highest summit, Scafell Pike. The most direct route begins from the Lake Head car park. After walks high on the fells, you should be glad to return to a hot shower back at base and a collection of convenient facilities including a food shop (with local produce and an off-licence, you might be glad to hear), a washing-up area and toilets. The site is fully off-grid and solar-powered. In this coastal spot, clouds often roll over the valley, giving you sweet, sweet views. Drigg is actually home to the largest sand dune system in Cumbria, so it’s a scenic spot in general. There's also the bonus of having Seascale village five minutes’ drive away. Once a lively Victorian resort destination, Seascale has another beach, an ice cream parlour, a small shop, a golf course and a train station. Country pubs are, of course, a short drive from the site for meals out.

Powered cement/asphalt and grass RV campsite

Liked Immaculate small site with modern bathroom facilities and bonus chickens. Lovely family who run the site and site shop is very reasonably priced. Will definitely be back.

Disliked Only booking one night.

Camping pod (five person)

Liked What a wonderful site! The owners can’t do enough for you! Everyone on site was respectful and friendly and kept noise to a minimum. The pod and facilities were immaculate! The shop has everything you could possibly need! Even in the pouring rain we had a blast! The site is secure so the kids could play without us worrying about cars etc. Highly recommend, so glad I found this site and we are already planning our return! There’s no plug sockets in the Pod but there is 2 USB ports just an FYI for anyone who may need!

Disliked That we’d only booked 1 night, if we had known what we know now we would have booked 2!

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you so much for this wonderful review — it means a lot to us. We’re really glad you enjoyed your stay, even with the rain, and it’s lovely to hear that the pod, facilities and shop all hit the mark for you. We work hard to keep the site safe, clean and welcoming, so knowing the kids could play freely and you felt relaxed makes our day.

Thank you as well for mentioning the USB ports in the pod — that’s really helpful for future guests.

We’re delighted you found us and even happier that you’re already planning a return. You’ll be very welcome back any time.

Powered cement/asphalt and grass RV campsite

Liked Loved this little site, small site with only a few pitches but they are a decent size and perfectly level. A little shop on site which has essentials for anything you might have forgotten and the owners were lovely!

Disliked Having to leave a day earlier than we had booked due to my daughters bed breaking!

From the manager: Thank you so much for your lovely review. We’re really pleased you enjoyed our little site and found the pitches comfortable, level, and well‑designed. It’s great to hear the shop was helpful too, and we truly appreciate your kind words about us.

We’re sorry your stay had to end a day early — that’s never how anyone wants a trip to go — but we hope the bed situation was quickly sorted and that you are all set for some more adventures.

We’d love to welcome you back for the full stay you originally planned.

Powered cement/asphalt and grass RV campsite (large)

Liked We have just returned from a 5 night stay at Partfields and we loved every second of it. The family are lovely and incredibly welcoming. The pitches themselves are excellent. Every part of the site has been well designed with no expense spared. The toilet/shower blocks are clean and modern with lovely hot showers.

The on site shop is wonderful, all products varied and well priced, with lots of products for children so lovely to give them the independence to go to the shop by themselves.

Overall it's been our favourite campsite in 7 years of having a motorhome. It is a 5 minute walk to Drigg train station and around a 25 minute walk to a beautiful clean, sandy beach.

From the manager: Thank you so much for your wonderful review — we’re delighted you enjoyed your five‑night stay with us. It’s lovely to hear that you felt welcomed by the family and that the pitches and facilities met your expectations. We’ve put a lot of care into designing the site, so your comments about the layout and the modern shower block really mean a lot.

We’re glad you enjoyed the onsite shop too — we love seeing children gain a bit of independence and choose their own bits and pieces.

Hearing that Partfield Park has become your favourite campsite in seven years of motorhoming is incredibly special to us. With Drigg station just a short walk away and the beautiful sandy beach close by, it’s great to know you were able to make the most of the area as well.

Thank you again for staying with us — we’d be very happy to welcome you back anytime.

Liked Good facilities - very warm showers. Low key site but all that you really need!
Handy shop for essentials.
Dry when we were there but the matting woven into the grass across the whole site should be a godsend if it's wet.
Very new site but it looks like will be well kept and the owners were on hand each day keeping an eye on things and making improvements.
Great place to stay if you want to visit coast or lakes - but without the crowds that both usually attract.

Disliked Only slight niggle was some noise from farm traffic in the early morning, which was on the farm track behind the pitches - but we accept that there is a working farm there, we're just visitors - and it didn't detract too much from a lovely stay, just a bit of a surprise the first time!

From the manager: Thank you very much for your lovely review — we’re really pleased you enjoyed your stay. It’s great to hear you found the facilities clean and comfortable, enjoyed the hot showers, and appreciated the low‑key feel of the site. We’re glad the shop and the ground matting were helpful too, especially as the weather can be unpredictable.

Thank you for mentioning the early‑morning farm traffic. As you say, we’re right beside a working farm, so there can occasionally be a bit of movement on the track behind the pitches. We appreciate you noting it for future guests, and we’re glad it didn’t detract from an otherwise lovely stay.

We’re delighted you’d stay again, and we’d be very happy to welcome you back anytime.

Liked What a fantastic site. The pitches are the best I've ever been to. We booked for 3 nights and stayed for 7. Showers are a dream. Little shop on site and open all year round. Owners are very friendly and very approachable. We WILL return to this site. Loved everything

Local attractions

First and foremost, Drigg beach (half an hour’s walk) is just over a mile away from Partfield Park for windswept dunes, miles of sandy walks and some small rockpools that might be of interest to those who are curious to see what creatures the sea has washed in. There’s more water inland, specifically three miles of it at England’s deepest lake, Wastwater (20 minutes’ drive). Wild swimming’s popular there, as is canoeing, kayaking and paddleboarding. Just over in Ravenglass is the Ravenglass & Eskdale Steam Railway (10 minutes) for steam-powered trips to Dalegarth. From there, you could take off on a ramble in the fells around the Eskdale Valley. Otherwise, make your return west for sights like Muncaster Castle (10 minutes), which has a hawk and owl centre where eagles, falcons and owls show off at flying displays. Inside the state rooms of the castle are old paintings and gorgeous furnishings from the Victorian period. Another pillar of local history is the Hardknott Roman Fort & Thermae (half an hour), where you can lay your eyes on the remains of an old fort from Hadrian’s Wall.
