  • Peaceful Northumberland site close to beaches and coast walks
  • A five-minute drive from Bamburgh and Seahouses
  • On the coast near Seahouses; small shared kitchen on site
There are magical coastal and country views all over Springhill Farm Holiday Accommodation, a family- and dog-friendly site in peaceful countryside five minutes’ drive from Seahouses. The property has glimpses of the Farne Islands offshore, Bamburgh Castle to the north and the Cheviot Hills in the west. The well-maintained pitches are surrounded by landscaped greenery and have access to a lovely play area for kids. Spotless modern amenities include shared toilets and shower trailers, a family bathroom with baby-changing facilities, and one with disabled access. There’s also a washing-up area, laundry room, wifi and chemical and grey waste disposal. Despite the quiet rural setting of this site, there are shops, pubs and restaurants in Seahouses, as well as restaurants and cafés in gorgeous Bamburgh (both five minutes' drive). Locally there are several of the UK’s most spectacular beaches, happily dog-friendly all year around – but you don’t have to go that far to exercise your dogs, as there’s a dedicated dog-walking area on site.

The Meadow primitive grass campsite

Liked Loved the location and how big it is, plenty of facilities for washing and cleaning.

Disliked The toilet roll holders in the ladies loos rip your hands to shreds so may need changing. 3 times people out of pur group cut themselves badly off the sharp metal where the toilet roll comes out.

The Meadow primitive grass campsite

Liked Large flat camping area. Lovely views. Showers were great. Beautiful countryside.

Disliked There didn’t seem to be enough toilets. There was an almost constant queue when we stayed and the site was far from full.
Quite pricey.

The Meadow primitive grass campsite

Liked Lovely quite site with amazing views of the sea. Plenty of space and you could pitch where you wanted so could have plenty of room between you and your neighbour. There is a little food truck that does breakfast (the full English was delicious and reasonable priced) and food on an evening. The facilities were clean and well lit with fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle and toaster.
The kids playground was enclosed with swings and a climbing frame which was perfect for our two young children. The site shop was well stocked with any essentials that might have been forgotten.

Disliked While the facilities were clean, there was only 3 showers, 2 ladies and one gents toilet, and 2 washing up places. There was often a queue for them as there are a lot of pitches available.

The Meadow primitive grass campsite

Liked We stayed on a grass non ehu pitch on The Meadow section of the site. The basic showers and toilets there were clean and tidy but we preferred walking to the main toilet block near reception which were really lovely.

Lots of thoughtful touches like a fridge freezer, toaster, microwave you can use, a place to plug in your phone to charge up or use hair appliances just outside the toilets.

Handy shop and takeaway van on site.

We took pushbikes and it’s a lovely area to explore.. Bamburgh and Beadnell Bay close by. Seahouses about 20 minute walk.

A lovely site and friendly staff. 🙂

Disliked Nothing really. Would much prefer to be closer to the nicer toilet block but it really was only a few minutes away.

The Meadow primitive grass campsite

Liked Lovely to have lots of space and camp where we liked in the field and loads of room for kids to play games. Nice and peaceful location few minute's drive from lovely beaches. Lovely sunsets.

Disliked Often a queue for the loos beside camping field- more would be great and a little less cramped inside them.
It didn't affect us personally, but signs said food van open all August but never was when we were there Friday to Sunday and would be good to have signs up if NOT open.

Powered cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked The site is ideally located. The pitch I was given was very spacious.

Disliked The facilities on the site are woefully inadequate. The site was very full on my visit for both camping and vans. There are only four sit down male toilets for the whole site. There is only one on the camping site (The Meadow). It is obviously a problem for female facilities as well because on numerous occasions women came into the male toilet waiting to use the male facilities. It is not nice having women looking over your shoulder whilst you are using the urinal. If that situation was reversed I'm sure there would be complaints made to the management. It is a shame because if the facilities were improved it would be a truly good site.

Local attractions

With miles of sand stretching down the coastline and backed by dunes, Bamburgh beach (five minutes’ drive) is rarely crowded; it lends itself to walking, beachcombing and swimming on warmer days. Spending a day there is made even more splendid by its stunning views of Bamburgh Castle, which is open for (pre-booked) tours of its well-preserved interiors, chapel and windmill. Hot competition for ‘best castle in Northumberland’ comes from Alnwick Castle (25 minutes), with its grand architecture, Harry Potter-related exhibitions and family-friendly activities such as the adventure playground and poison garden. Offshore, you can visit two famed Northumberland landmarks. The Farne Islands are a world-renowned wildlife sanctuary; catch the regular boat service from Seahouses (five minutes) between Easter and October for close-up views of seabirds and one of the UK’s largest grey seal colonies. Accessible via a tidal causeway (25 minutes, be sure to check tide times before you go), Holy Island (Lindisfarne) is steeped in history; once there, you can explore Lindisfarne Castle and its Lutyens-designed interior, the 12th-century priory and several peaceful beaches.
