What customers say

Lovely, tranquil campground with roomy sites, many with fire pits. Guests rave about the clean, modern washrooms, including hot showers. Friendly owners serve tasty homemade pizza and coffee. Enjoy stunning country views and nearby hiking. Most had no issues, though a few noted potential midges and no cell service.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Despite heavy rain and strong winds we really enjoyed our few days at Stablefell. It is a very nice laid out site and very quiet, the plots are a good size and well marked out. It has a well looked after toilet block with really hot showers, a small shop for small camping needs and home made pizzas which were really nice and saved cooking an evening meal. Host Jo was very pleasant and friendly and would always stop for a chat with you both in the morning or evening.
The site is well off the beaten track in a valley that is very remote and peaceful so if you want to chill out in peace and quiet I would 100 percent recommend it.
T

Disliked Although it is a tent site electric hook up would have been nice but we coped ok without it, possibly placing lights on the walkway though the site for easier access to the toilets through the night time (eg solar lights )

My only gripe was someone taking our freezer blocks out of the freezer for their own use and not returning them, rather annoying especially when they are marked with your name on them, a good job they were not required for medical needs.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked The location was fabulous! Pitches very big. Staff very friendly. Toilets and facilities were really good, very clean. Little shop was good.

Disliked Our pitch was on a slope and had a few molehills. Once the tent was up we had a few bumps and holes from the molehills. Also kept rolling into each other in bed because it was down hill.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Friendly owners, good communication with the booking etc, nice clean toilets, views were sensational and an allotted a specific plot with plenty of room on plot for car & tent plus capacity for camp fire in designated area if want one. Quiet campsite but a nice mix of varying people from families to couples to friends.

Disliked Nothing. All great a well thought out and organised. If you want a fire you need to purchase wood on site but understand the need to control what kind of wood is burned on site so major issue. Be prepared for travel on small roads for final destination but lots of passing points if drive safely.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Remote and beautiful location near Semer Water. Nice large marked pitches - each with a stone surrounded fire pit and wood for sale. Showers and toilets are clean modern and good. Owner was very friendly. Freezer available for freezer blocks.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Location was very peacefull and quiet. Very well kept, bays were a good size and all I think had a fire pit. I had an amazing stay their in my 1man tent.
The staff their were great also and even sent me a text asking if I wanted a home made pizza baking for me. I am so glad I had one, after a bit of a drive from Darlington, I needed a good feast. Great idea folks and very welcoming.
Some animals their also such as chickens or roosters, they just potter around near the main block, also some goats and their kids.
Really nice place to just relax or use as a Base for hiking around such a fantastic area.

Disliked Nothing at all

Local attractions

Start stays with explores of nearby Hawes, a small town 15 minutes’ drive from the site. This is among Yorkshire’s most well-known spots, home not only to the Dales Countryside Museum, but the Wensleydale Creamery as well, where visitors can take part in tours and demonstrations, and catch up on the exploits of the man-and-dog duo that made Wensleydale cheese so famous. Not much into cheese? Sample other flavours at the town’s Raydale Preserves. For a taste of history, there’s no need to travel all that far either. The site’s just 30 minutes from the 14th-century Bolton Castle and its bird of prey displays, archery demonstrations, wild boar feeding, and castle and garden tours. Slightly further afield are the follies of the Forbidden Corner, the remains of Middleham Castle (Richard III’s childhood home), and the ruined Jervaulx Abbey, all within 40 minutes of base. To experience the Dales’ natural landscape, spend some time outdoors with pilgrimages to Aysgarth Falls (20 minutes), or dive below the surface at White Scar Cave (40 minutes) – the UK’s longest show cave – and Ingleborough Cave (55 minutes). Prefer to spend some time away from the countryside instead? It’s 50 minutes from base to the large market town of Richmond for a day among its museums, castle, falls and art gallery.
