Entrance to the site

  • Adults-only, dog-friendly site 15 minutes’ drive from York
  • Clifton Moor shops five minutes’ drive; Castle Howard half an hour
  • Café on site for breakfasts, sandwiches and afternoon teas
Those who wish to experience the attractions of the city of York while also waking up to the sight of endless green fields and dense woodland should consider staying at Willow House Caravan Park. From this peaceful, adults-only site (over 18s only), it’s a 15-minute drive to reach York Minster – that’s pretty handy, right? Even handier, though, is letting someone else do the driving into the city: you can catch a bus at the end of the drive. What’s more, you’re only a five-minute drive from Clifton Moor Retail Park, with its supermarkets, stores and entertainment options for rainy days (a multiscreen cinema and ten-pin bowling among them). But what about the site itself? In addition to two wildlife ponds – where you can stroll along looking at the ducks as they swim in and out of the bullrushes – there’s a café serving huge cooked breakfasts, sandwiches and wraps, all made with locally sourced produce. Oh, and afternoon teas with home-made cakes and other sweet treats. There is also a gift shop in the café. Your four-legged companion is a welcome guest here, and you can take them (or yourselves) for a walk through Westfield Wood nearby. Back on site, you’ll be able to use the wet room and washing-up area, as well as extra facilities near the café, which include showers and toilets (including facilities for disabled guests) plus a laundry area.

Quiet, adults-only site near York, with spacious, level pitches & clean, heated wet rooms. Cafe & shop get top marks. Bus stop outside for easy city access. Watch for drainage in rain; no manned reception but staff reachable by phone. Highly recommended.

Disliked Die sanitären Anlagen sind in die Jahre gekommen und werden nicht regelmäßig vom Personal gereinigt. Waren trotzdem halbwegs sauber.

Liked Secluded and quiet. Well maintained lawn. Cafe on site and tourist information leaflets. Near to York town centre and bus route.

Disliked We were on a pitch near the shower and toilet block which linked to an external septic tank. We kept getting wiffs of sewerage which wasn't nice. Showers and toilets need a little upgrading and could do with being a little cleaner as there were cobwebs and some dirt on the floors.

Liked Quiet location but still close to main routes.
Toilets were immaculately clean. Bins were full on BH Monday, but stealthily emptied by Tuesday morning!
Just turn up and choose a vacant pitch.
We had horses in the field opposite the pitch and it was lovely listening to them.
There is a lovely dog walking area to explore at the top of the site. The hounds really enjoyed it!
Farm shop and cafe onsite. We didn’t get to try on this trip.
We would return to this site.
