Sunset over robin hood's bay

  • Dog-friendly farm site one mile from Robin Hood's Bay
  • Walking distance from the beach, village and the Cleveland Way
  • Horses welcome; shops and restaurants nearby
Robin Hood’s Bay was once the stomping ground of smugglers, but you’ll be the new sharks about this place… you see, Farsyde Farm is only one mile from the beach and village, so you’ll be well-based for hunting down rockpools, ancient fossils and cobbled streets chock-full with independent shops, pubs and fish and chip shops. Plus, you’ll get to freestyle right onto the Cinder Track or Cleveland Way, as both trails are 10 minutes' walk away. More on that new den of yours… the peaceful Farsyde Farm is surrounded by the coast and countryside, and the large field spies over the grand Ravenscar cliffs, the countryside and the sea. When you’re not preoccupied with the views and splendid sunrises or sunsets, dark starry nights take over by night – just the thing after a day spent walking, mountain biking or following family trails locally. When it comes to getting your go-to snacks and meals, there’s no need to put the car into action either. The village and its well-stocked shops are 15 minutes’ walk away along the Cleveland Way. Of course, the beach might very well reel you in with its rockpools and fossils (just be sure to take care, especially with the kids). There are good facilities on site, including two flushing toilets, showers, a tap and a washing-up area. Those of you who have horses in your flock will be happy to find they’re welcome too, and guided rides are available. An added bonus is that this site is home to a flock of adorable Valais Blacknose sheep and a small herd of alpacas.

What customers say

This campground boasts stunning ocean views and a tranquil vibe, perfect for walks to Robin Hood's Bay. Guests rave about the welcoming owners and the clean, simple amenities. Spacious sites and farm animals are big draws. While mostly loved, some noted more amenities or hot water would be ideal.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Absolutely Beautiful view and a very short walk to robin hoods bay! Peaceful and great location.

Disliked The owner can obviously get away with being so rude and obnoxious because people will come anyway for the view. We have stayed in so many campsites, we only picked this one as it was a last minute stay and the only one available but would t usually pay this price (£5 for dogs that must be kept on a lead and not walked on site) never had to pay again for a shower when already paying, especially at that price. When we arrived someone held the gate for us, in front of a sign that apparently told us to ring to check in! Total human error. The lady who owns this is intolerable and despite me explaining very sweetly that we did not see the sign she started screaming across a field then waving her hands saying “oh I’m not shouting across a field at you” (don’t then, come and speak to us as equals) when I approached with immediate apologies she maintained her horrible manner and I asked her a few times to please not be rude there was just no need. She carried on, trying to argue with me about the fact I hadn’t phoned, something I was apologising for then flapped her arms to wave me off mid sentence and started talking to another customer. She did this in front of other paying campers and we were completely go smacked a business owner could act in such a way. If we had an option we would of just driven off. Really bad energy, unkind person. My partner then heard her shouting and swearing about people using the bins whilst he was in the bathroom. Quite unpleasant. We always return to sites but never this one. READ THE SIGNS… ALLLLL the signs or feel the wrath! I’m sure she will respond by telling me to read the T&C, but she’s missing the point. I was apologetic and kind. Take the constructive criticism and be nice to people. Just in general. Be a nice human. You don’t know what people are going through. It costs nothing.

Disliked Lots of rules, owner a bit brash, paying for shower joke really considering the price

From the manager: Thank you for your review. The shower is a £1 for unlimited time - most campsites have the shower on a timer we don't. The price reflects the views, the beautiful walk to Robin Hood's Bay and the peace and quiet .

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Family friendly quiet campsite- beautiful views of the sea, less than 10 minutes walk into Robin Hood's Bay. Friendly and helpful owner. Dogs loved it. Cool farm animals.

Disliked Not a dislike for us as is what we wanted but campsite only covers your basic needs- clean toilets and shower options and a dishwashing sink, so don't book if you're looking for high end!

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Amazing view and short walk to robinhood bay .
Very beautiful location
Facilities small ( 1 shower & 2 toilets ) but kept at very good standard

Disliked Hmmm ….
Felt like a concentration camp 😂
Heidi who greeted us ( not in a nice way though 😂) telling us off for driving round and round the campsite for no reason ( we drove round once looking for her as she told us she’s waiting on site when we spoke on the phone … ) and place being full of stickers wherever you look telling you what you can’t do …

We ended up joking from it all watching people not smiling , all being hidden in tents after 9-10pm , no cooling in the morning … bit different to all the campsites we have been to before - full of laughs and smell of bacon in the morning .
Shame as it’s a beautiful place but lady clearly have some people issues ( nicely saying it :) )

If you take it with distance and laugh from it all you will still have a great time

Local attractions

So, where to get walking to? You’ll be going off-road on the 22-mile Cinder Track (10 minutes' walk). Depending on which way you go, Scarborough or Whitby could be your end destination… with the latter, you’ll be on track for the gothic-style Whitby Abbey (15 minutes' drive), and spooky it is, as the 13th-century abbey was the inspiration for the Dracula novel. The Cleveland Way (10 minutes' walk) is another cycling or walking route pretty much on your doorstep. It passes through Scarborough and Whitby too, as well the North York Moors and Saltburn-by-the-Sea – there are 109 miles, so you may want to be choosy about which section you go for. When you’re ready to rest your feet, the North Yorkshire Moors Railway (25 minutes' drive) is right and ready for a steam railway trip, perhaps on one of the historic Pullman carriages. As for those of you who aren’t ready for the action-packed activities to end just yet, there are the zipwires and treetop obstacles at Go Ape Dalby (45 minutes) or wakeboarding, paddleboarding, kayaking and an aqua park at North Yorkshire Water Park (45 minutes).
