  • Meadow and woodland site under 10 minutes’ drive from Pocklington
  • York 20 minutes’ drive, and Castle Howard half an hour
  • Alpaca walks available; firepits and barbecues for hire
Spreading over 12 acres of open meadows and woodland, The Darling Woods Of May is a working alpaca farm which provides adventures on the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds. A haven for fans of nature, the site is just a 20-minute drive from historic York and less than a 10-minute drive from the beautiful market town of Pocklington. Here, guests can expect to fall asleep to the sweet humming of nearby alpacas and the wind through the woods. Cars can be parked safely in the car park, which is just a few minutes' walk away from the field to ensure that the site has a peaceful atmosphere. Don't want to pack light? No worries, as the site provides big green trollies to help you easily set up camp. Home to friendly alpacas, The Darling Woods Of May can arrange alpaca walks and experiences for an additional fee (just note that dogs aren't allowed due to their presence). The site provides essential amenities including running water, a hot shower, posh toilets and a washing-up area, although there's no electricity. Visit the small gift shop at the reception, then head out to nearby grocery shops in Pocklington. Firepits and barbecues are available for hire, with logs and charcoal conveniently sold in the on-site shop.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked: Absolutely loved this camp site, toilets and showers were amazing and very clean. Dotty the caravan was a great thing to do as the weather was very cold and rainy. The on-site shop was really lovely, and the alpaca merch was really cute, we got some stickers for our camper van! The owner met us when we arrived and gave us a tour and we got to feed and meet the alpacas! Would 100% recommend and will definitely be visiting again.

Disliked: Absolutely nothing.

Liked: What's not to like, we had to go back for the second time in a fortnight to walk the Alpacas. Looking forward to a return next year as plans for the site sound amazing.
