  • Award-winning, peaceful rural site 15 minutes from Fakenham
  • Pitches and main facilities all wheelchair accessible
  • Half an hour's drive from the beaches of the Norfolk coast
The kilns may be old but the facilities – them’s all set for the 21st century. In fact, The Old Brick Kilns has got things so well sorted it’s even won awards for its offerings. All your everyday needs have been considered by the thoughtful folk at this peaceful rural site: there's a launderette that takes card payments, a tourist info point stacked with handy pointers and first-rate washrooms with underfloor heating. The shop’s shelves are filled with various essentials and treats, and you can call in a day ahead to order warm bread and fresh croissants for a leisurely breakfast. If you’re here at the right time, site staff can sort your evening drinks too: the bar is open on certain nights, with ales and ciders up for grabs. Should you choose to lounge about on site for a bit (as indeed you should…) there are wildflower meadows to skip through and a fishing pond that you’re welcome to dangle your rod into for a small charge. A playground, table tennis and games room are all on hand for the entertainment of small people. This nifty Norfolk location, 15 minutes from Fakenham, has you well placed for all sorts of outings too – beaches, nature reserves and stately homes are all within a half-hour drive. Guests travelling with wheelchairs or buggies will be chuffed to note that this is a pleasingly accessible site, with plenty of ramps and firm pathways to aid manoeuvres around the place.

What customers say

This well-kept site offers roomy pitches & spotless, modern facilities, esp. the washrooms. Staff are consistently friendly & helpful. Barney's Bar & the on-site shop are hits. Generally quiet, though some mention noise from fellow campers or the access road. Minor notes on Wi-Fi & limited bar hours.

Powered gravel travel trailer campsite (pull-thru)

Liked Well cared for site, cleanliness, surprisingly quiet for a family pitch.
Clean showers.
Large pitches.

Disliked Poor to signal possibly due to pitch location 43, up against a high bank and over hanging trees. Also meant in a very shady spot. Wouldn’t recommend the same pitch. WiFi non existent on pitch 43

FHU cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite (super, adults only)

Liked Loved the location ,the lane is narrow but easy to access site from ,well laid out ,toilet and shower blocks were excellent and extremely well kept.we loved the dog walk around the site with easy access to dog bins along the route staff are extremely friendly and very helpful. We love the information centre great if your not sure what to do and see around Norfolk.

Disliked I think the only thing is the shop is mostly made up of home produce ,which is good but if your expecting a local spa type shop your going to be disappointed and not that we used it but I think barney's bar should be open for longer hours ,but I can only assume they don't do this as to keep the calm and peace on site [not all of us are going to get loud after a few drinks 😉]

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked We liked the layout of the campsite. The scenery within the campsite was lovely to sit and admire outside of the tent. Also facilities at the campsite were great-toilets and shower block was clean and the shower was hot. We also liked the fact that tent area was not over crowded allowing lots of space to set up your tent but not on top of other visitors. The campsite itself was located centrally for us allowing us to visit Fakenham, Wells Next The Sea and Cromer.

FHU cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite (super, adults only)

Liked Everything just Everything! Brilliant if you want to rest and peace and quiet. This is my second time coming here and I love it. Lovely walks especially if you have a dog, staff are very friendly, lovely little shop for essentials, bar, food just on certain times, what more do you want!

Disliked Maybe the narrow road coming in, but nobody can do anything about that.

FHU gravel travel trailer campsite (super)

Liked Bar food, Bar Staff. Nice quiet site.

Disliked Site entrance not suitable for car & caravan. Road was poorly maintained. Pot holes deep going into site. Reception staff not the friendliest. Club house only open 5pm to 9pm. No entertainment. Rubbish bins overflowing. Mens toilets smelt of drains.

Local attractions

The good folk of Norfolk know a thing or two about gorgeous coastlines, so it’s highly recommended that you bag a bit of beach time while you’re here: the great sandy swathes at Wells-next-the-Sea and Holkham are both about half an hour away by car. With coast comes wildlife, and the places to find creatures around here are the RSPB reserve at Titchwell Marsh (35 minutes’ drive) and the boat trips that leave Morston Quay (20 minutes) to see England’s biggest seal colony, which hangs out on or around Blakeney Point. It’s not all about the coast, however – inland’s got plenty of treats to offer too: give the royals a wave at Sandringham (half an hour’s drive), wander through 100 acres of fragrant lavender fields in Heacham (35 minutes) and sniff out some history at medieval Walsingham (15 minutes) or the stately homes Blickling Estate and Houghton Hall (both 25 minutes).
