What customers say
A welcoming, tidy campsite with great facilities and roomy spots, lauded for its calm vibe and good value. Some noted stored caravans as a bit of an eyesore, and occasional road noise. Management is responsive to feedback and has managed fire pit use during dry spells.

Disliked Less than a month before visiting, I sent the owner a photo of the fire pit and asked if I could use it; he confirmed I could and said it was great. Knowing this was allowed, I booked a pitch again—an evening campfire and cooking dinner over the fire are key reasons my children and I choose a campsite. To my surprise and dismay, the very next morning after our first night, the owner forbade the use of the fire pit; he was arrogant and aggressive. He ruined the start of the holiday for my children, who had been eagerly looking forward to this—the trip's main attraction for them. One might overlook the dirty, gloomy caravans, the fee for a shower that ought to be free, or the lack of toilet paper—or even the fact that dog owners from the neighboring field treat the tent area like a toilet, fouling the grass with urine (I own a dog myself and always took him outside the campsite). But going back on his word like that was a low blow. I should add that I got permission when it was really hot, but was refused when it was cool and drizzling. Ultimately, I decided to leave and found a spot nearby where no one made a fuss and the showers were free. I know the gentleman—who struggles with being pleasant and composed—might well chime in here, but I don't care; it’s important for people to read reviews before making a decision. You won't ruin our vacation again.

From the manager: Hello Mr Brewinski, many thanks for the review and as you have mentioned, I feel I must now chime in with some comments of my own . Looks like you have a few points of issue, which I will address.
First of all, lets look at the main issue and the request for you not to use your open flame fire pit. As I mentioned to you at the time (after apologising for not telling you when you checked in) we have experienced a number of hot/dry days without rain which has made the grass and surrounding bushes very very dry and potentially subject to fire if an ignition source was introduced (fire pits, disposible bbq etc). As mentioned when I spoke to you, only a few days ago there was a large fire in a dry field not far from our site and a large fire at the seafront in Skegness, again down to dry grass and an ignition source. For the safety of our site, fellow campers, yourselves and not to mention the large dry field of hay we are surrounded by and yet to be harvested, we had made the descision to not allow open flame. This was explained to all the other campers, who fully understood and agreed with the descision....
Now coming back to your point about asking the question less than a month ago. It wasnt an issue then and as I recall you enjoyed your stay giving a 9 out of 10 review. even stating there was a delightful owner onsite.....Alot has changed in that period mostly no rain which has obviosly change the dynamics of the grass and hedges....
I'm not going to comment on the arrogant and aggressive coment which you have made as we both know this is far from the case. In fact I apologized on a number of occasions about the situation. Obviously you're just looking add extra nonsence onto your review in a childish attempt to damage our business.
Again I'm not going to comment on your points about showers etc. as this is the 3rd time you have stayed with us giving 2 x 9 out of 10 reviews, so again this is just another childish attempt do harm our business.
Regarding your comments about cool and drizzling, again that just isn't true so why say it?
Finally your point about deciding to leave, I just want to add some context to the dramatisation of that. You were booked in for 3 nights arriving on the 18th July, scheduled to leave on the 21st July. You actually left on the evening of the 20th so only a short time before you were due to check out anyway.....
I agree with your point about the importance of reading reviews and I'm confident that people will see that we were looking after the safety and security of our caravan / camping site, the people within the site (your family included) and the surrounding farmers field. Its easy to complain but who would have taken responsibility if your fire pit caused a stray spark, igniting the grass and bushes of my site then potentially spreading into the farmers field. You mention about me being arrogant above. How arrogant is it to believe that your fire pit is more important than the potential of what could have happened if you caused a fire.
You are also right about us not ruining your vacation as you will not be welcomed back onto our site.
All the above being said, we wish you ane your family well and hope you have many happy camping trips in the future.

Friendly budget site with great overall atmospher

Liked Very professional greeting. The encointer was super friendly and relaxed whilst being informative and professional, true hospitality.
Camp ground had a fun and friendly feel overall with all the sites children making use of the open space and climbing frame.
All on site facilities were clean and welcoming due to attentive hosts.
Personally I liked the fact that as they do state on the advert caravans are also stored within the site as this gave it a real camping feel.
Overall it had a true countryside feel with all the local wildlife in the nearby fields, rabbits, pheasent, etc.
Disliked 50p charge for showers - now I have no begrudgement for charging for showers (although a site with amenities should be included in my opinion) the issue regarding this is many people wont take petty cash camping with them and I didn't come across anywhere on site or within walking distance to sort this.
This final part will be seen as a pro or a con depending on the individual, gates locked on a night preventing any form of access even for walking. Whilst this is great for security, personally it maxe me feel trapped (anxiety sufferer)

Liked We had a wonderful stay at Top Yard Farm. The staff were really helpful and welcoming. We camped for a couple of nights and the site is small but perfect to keep an eye on your kids. There's a little play park that ours absolutely loved. It's just a short drive to Skegness beach as well which was great. The area was quiet and facilities were clean. We would definitely stay again.
