General

  • Dog-friendly family site by the Viking Way walking/bike trail
  • Half an hour's drive from Cleethorpes beach and Go Ape adventure park
  • On-site bar; a 10-minute drive from Brigg pubs and farmers' market

Pick yourself a pitch at this peaceful farm site and get set for easy access to lots of lovely Lincolnshire days out… Setcops Farm is a family-friendly smallholding on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, in a handy spot for days packed with visits to east coast beaches, farm parks, adventure parks, historic houses…

Walking and cycling are likely to be on the cards around here too, whether you’re taking a 20-minute wander down to the local pub in the village of North Kelsey, pedalling to pretty nearby villages or setting out for lengthy hikes on the Viking Way (which runs past the site on its 147-mile route from the Humber through to Rutland).

Eats and drinks can be sorted at the pubs and takeaways of Brigg and Caistor (both 10 minutes’ drive away); alternatively, check out both towns’ regular farmers’ markets and shops for tasty things to cook on the barbecue or consume by the firepit back at base.

Cool drinks are on the menu at the site bar too (which is open on bank holidays and by request) – sip on these while the kids use the spacious garden area for games of football, swingball or badminton.

  • Liked:

Friendly and accomodating with lots of space and clean toilets. Flexible and let us add an additional night and awning when we arrived.

    Disliked:

Arrival was slightly confusing as there was no clear reception to check in at, but quickly solved by calling the phone number on the booking form.

No showers is obviously not ideal for a longer stay but we knew in advance and were prepared.

Outside tap is a distance from pitches and no clear area for washing dishes etc.

Overall the site feels like a wedding venue which allows camping rather than a dedicated campsite, but our stay was comfortable enough.

Host is lovely lady called Eleanor cant do enough for you.
Bar facilities on site were a bonus !
Let us pitch in a remote spot with lovely views , really relaxed atmosphere and good location for exploring nearby towns - we did Lincoln for the day which is 45 mins drive but well worth a visit especially up steep hill road.
Fridge on site and lovely clean toilets

    Disliked:

Nothing - only tip would be to have two unisex toilets and then turn the current men's toilet into a shower room - as if it had a shower we would stay for longer than just the one night !

Just spent 2 nights here camping with my 6 year old daughter and our family dog. We found the campsite to be fantastic, plenty of space for each tent, clean, well maintained. Eleanor the owner was extremely helpful, she even offered to look after our dog for a few hours whilst we visited a local attraction that did not allow dogs. There was an on site bar too.

    Disliked:

Like a lot of reviews, the campsite would benefit from having showers as quite a few people we’re obviously visiting the coast and swimming so a freshen up on return would have been nice. However we knew about the showers before booking so it’s just a suggestion rather than a dislike.

1 large party who were a bit noisy on our first night. Hand basins very small so hard to have a wash and no hand dryer so had to take towel each loo trip!

Local attractions

If the thunder of hooves appeals, it's a 20-minute trip by car to Market Rasen racecourse, where alongside the racing of steeds there are regular family entertainments, beer festivals and live music. For noisier racing, head 40 minutes to Cadwell Park's motor circuit for regular car and bike meets, vintage rallies and the chance to floor it on the bends yourself.

There are assorted cows, goats, pigs and lambs to meet, pet and feed at Hall Farm Park (10 minutes), along with pedal karts and play barns. If you've caught the farming bug, have a go at milking the cows at Rand Farm Park (30 minutes) and take a tractor ride too.

Also around half an hour away is Normanby Hall, a country park where you can spot wildlife, learn about rural life in the museum, tour the elegant Regency mansion and zoom through the trees at the Go Ape adventure park.

For traditional seaside antics, it's a half-hour drive to Cleethorpes for pier amusements, sandcastle building, 10-pin bowling, coastal rides on the light railway and a zoo to nose around (plus some mighty fine fish and chips of course…). If you're keen to see what lurks beneath the surface of the world's seas, pay a visit to The Deep, the excellent aquarium in Hull (40 minutes' drive).

Must see

  • Far Ings National Nature Reserve (20.8 kilometers)
  • The Deep (26.0 kilometers)
  • Ferens Art Gallery (26.4 kilometers)

National Trust

  • Maister House (26.5 kilometers)
