  • Peaceful, well-kept park with six lakes, walking trails and wildlife
  • A 15-minute drive to Lincoln; half an hour to the Lincolnshire Wolds
  • Café-bar, wifi, play area, takeaway food and fishing
Rural roams are firmly on the agenda at Hanworth Country Park, a serene site dotted with pretty paths and six lakes around 15 minutes’ drive from Lincoln. And angling’s on the cards too – four of the bodies of water here, stocked with mirror carp, common carp, chub, barbel, ide, perch, roach and tench, are open for fishing. There’s also a café-bar to order takeaway food and drink (with a handful of tables if you fancy eating in). Travelling with the tiddlers? Let them roam free in the play area. Animals are also often seen scampering around the park, especially around the lakes and woodland: think buzzards, red kites, woodpeckers and kestrels, as well as brown hares, squirrels, hedgehogs and deer. Attempt to catch a glimpse of these critters while roving along routes through the country park, either on foot or by bike; a favourite trails is the famed Lincolnshire Spires and Steeples path, which runs through the park and ends up at Lincoln Cathedral. Closer by is the village of Potterhanworth (10 minutes’ walk), a peaceful place with a handful of amenities including a large playing field with a play park, a skateboard park and tennis courts. A pub’s in the centre of the village – handy for evening drinks – and there’s a bus stop plying the Lincoln to Sleaford and Lincoln to Boston routes for explores via public transport. Surrounding villages such as Metheringham, Branston, Heighington and Washingborough are all within five miles and have conveniences like food shops, inn, takeaways, cafés, butchers and post offices.

Liked The site had well maintained, level hardstanding pitches and the facilities were good. We had a lovely breakfast in the cafe onsite
.

Disliked The only fault is that the site is next to a train line and freight trains ran all night long. This disturbed our sleep a little

Liked Everything about this site was excellent, massive pitches

Disliked WiFi I don’t mind paying a small fee for WiFi but it didn’t work, it kept going on and off.
The site was really nice and we had a lovely meal and nice relaxing night.
But if you are going to charge for WiFi please make sure it is reliable.

Liked Pitch was well kept, flat with plenty of room. The toilets/showers were great, individual cubicles and lovely and warm. Cafe/bar cosy, warm with plenty of choice. Lovely well kept large site.

Disliked Slight downside was the internet. Low mobile signal so purchased WiFi access, but it just kept dropping out all the time, particularly on our last night.
Not a problem for us, but be aware the railway line runs behind the motorhome pitches, so could be a dislike for some.

Powered cement/asphalt RV campsite

Liked Very nice campsite, good layout with lovely facilities, pitches are big and well designed. Lovely walks around the lakes and nice bar and restaurant to relax with a dog friendly veranda with large log burner. Very reasonable prices and lovely food. Nice walk into Potterhanworth but only one pub and no shops so better jumping on a bus to Branston where there is more to do, not a great deal but there is a pub, cafe and fish & chip shop. Will definitely be back in the future.

Disliked Nil.
