Liked Very quiet. Nice location. Lots of space.
Disliked The woods, where you could walk your dogs had a big oily puddle, which both dogs went in. It would of been helpful if the owner had mentioned it when he told us about the woods.

From the manager: Hi Patricia, Thanks for your review, Glad to hear you enjoyed your stay with us despite the oily puddle in the woods which to be honest we were totally unaware of but will be looking into it. Shame you didn't report it to us before your departure you could have shown us exactly where it is, Anyway we hope dogs are all ok & can only apologise for any inconvenience caused. Great to see your returning to us, Hopefully see you soon. Safe Travels

Wild Boar unpowered grass caravan site (six person)
Liked The Pig Place was amazing. Run by a friendly bunch of guys who ran the shop, bar and diner. The food was really nice, just burgers and chips, but tasty. The breakfasts were epic. The mushrooms were especially good. No need for lunch!
We arrived on the quiz night. Don’t expect a serious quiz! There were lots of youngsters there, but no trouble or noise. Just a really nice, layer back place. We will definitely return. It was right on the edge of the canal and they provided wood burners and settees. The shop sold useful items.
Disliked Portaloos. We didn’t use them as we had our own loo, so they may have been good, but still a portaloo

Liked Very well maintained site. The toilets and showers were clean, hot and well laid out. The rest of the park was also clean and well kept. Great dog walking from site. The shop was well stocked with items, although the food choice was a bit random.

Liked Very quiet location. Walks nearby. Friendly pub. Lovely area. The toilets and showers were well kept and clean.
Disliked On our email it said the pub was open for food Monday and Tuesday and further down the email it was only the bar which was open, which was confusing. In the end there was no food and the pub was closed all day on Monday (maybe due to the Queens funeral). We were the only campers, so it wouldn’t have taken someone long to send an email clarifying the situation.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We have only just recently changed our opening and business hours for the pub, therefore this is might be way it stated otherwise on the email for you. We will certainly take this into account!
Rookley, Isle Of Wight, England
Powered grass and gravel caravan site
Liked The pub! Very friendly staff. Excellent food. Very welcoming.
The campsite is very basic, but the pitches are flat which is helpful. We were the only people there which meant it was hard to imagine the site in busier times. There are some lovely walks from the campsite. The pub helpfully sells a book of four.
Disliked No toilet block, only portaloos in the pub car park. There was a bit of a junk site at one end of the camp site which wasn’t very attractive.

Powered grass campervan, tent or trailer tent site
Liked The view from the tent pitches was stunning. The location of the rents was quiet and safe for children to play. It’s just a short walk to the beach. The facilities were clean and the staff friendly. We didn’t use the pool. The food in the restaurant was good. The bus stops right outside the site. The pitches were a good size.
Disliked We had to sit outside and eat because we had a dog. Most places on the Isle of Wight allow dogs in, so if I stayed again I would probably eat elsewhere. It’s not much fun eating in the cold and dark, as the outside lights didn’t seem to work, staring in at an empty, warm restaurant. Shame, because we would probably have stayed for a few drinks otherwise and the food was nice.
