Unpowered grass site
Liked Very friendly, especially when we arrived late. Spacious field, quiet, very pleasant
Disliked No grey water drainage facility. We were directed to a wooden box near the toilets and told that was it. If it was, it was useless for draining a fixed under van grey water tank because water doesn't flow upwards!

Liked Large field, lovely views, sunsets, no designated pitches,
Disliked Dogs being allowed to roam untethered. We were just falling asleep with the back doors to our van open to enjoy the last of the setting sun when a dog pooped right outside - with all the associated smell. To be fair, the owner was apologetic and cleaned up - but it shouldn't have happened

Liked Spacious site without pre-marked pitches and very relaxed, so we were able to choose the best place to be out of the wind. Lovely clean and well equipped faciliites. Friendly owners who have obviously really thought about how to make this a great campsite.
Thank you Ruth for your suggestion of walking on Cleeve Hill and parking at the golf club, we did a lovely 3 hour walk.
Disliked Nothing to dislike. It would be nice to think that one day there will be some trees growing on the very large field to give a bit of landscaping - there are already some planted.

Power optional grass site
Liked Beautiful camp site. We loved the terraced pitches and the space allocated to each pitch. The toilets and showers at the reception end were great. Shame that they were not so well maintained at the top of th site..
We ate at the Relais de la Poste on the first night. It wasn't a place recommended by the camp site and we understand why. Be aware that there is nowhere else within walking distance to eat.
Disliked Not really anything to dislike, except that we felt that the prices in the shop at the reception were very high. 15 euros for a bottle of wine was explained as being because it was local, but in fact it's easy to get better local wines for considerably less.

Liked Quiet, basic campsite, exactly what we were looking for as a one night stop over on the way from Dieppe to Spain.
Thank you to the friendly owner for the offer to draw a map showing the shortcut to the town so that I could get breakfast in the morning. In the end we slept late and moved on straightaway.
Definitely a place to return.

Bovey Tracey, Devon, England
Powered grass site
Liked Lovely peaceful, basic, campsite in great proximity for Dartmoor and the interesting town of Bovey Tracy. Mel was a super communicative and helpful camp warden, living on site. The outdoor shower was a delight on the one sunny morning of our stay, though probably wouldn't have been so lovely in the wind and rain that we experienced most of the time!
The downside was that the days of rain before and during our stay made the field very wet and unsuitable for the campervan, so we left that at the top of the field and just pitched the tent at the electric hookup. Mel had taken care to warn us about this before we arrived and lent us an adaptor so that we could use the hookup with the tent.
Disliked Nothing to dislike, we loved the campsite.

Disliked That the fire pits were left out but still had to pay to use. It just felt wrong.

From the manager: Hi Jane thanks for your review and was great to have you here. Regarding the fire pits left out and that you felt wronged by that action, to take in every fire pit after people check out at 11am only to have to bring them back out again at midday when people check in is labour intensive for me and my Mom. I always liaise with every person coming to stay with us at least 24 hours I'm advance to say fire pits are available to rent and wood is available to buy. I'm sorry you felt wronged by this. My Mom is 73 and I don't expect her to have to take in every fire pit on the pitches for just an hour just to bring them back out again, it doesn't make sense to me.

Liked Lovely views, peaceful, relaxed, incredibly good location for visiting Cornwall, clean basic facilities absolutely perfect.
The campsite is small and easy going with friendly notices (rather than long lists of instructions!) and is kept clean and tidy. Honestly couldn't fault it.
Loved the fact that it was close to the St Erth park and ride into St Ives with it's 10 minute spectacular train journey and yet it was so remote and peaceful
Recommend visiting the Geevor Tin Mine while you are there, it's well worth setting a day aside for it.

Liked Clean, level, easy access, friendly owner
Disliked Noise from the road made it unpleasant sitting out, even late into the evening
Street lighting from the estate across the field made it too light in the van
Ultimately this wasn't the place for us to relax, so sadly we didn't stay for the duration we had booked for

Attractive site and well laid out.
Great indoor table and seating area for sitting and reading/using wifi etc
Very good toilet and shower facilities.
Supermarket just over the road is enormous and open until 7pm and on Sunday mornings, so really easy to go and get food and wine when you need it.
Good choice of walks - we climbed up to the top of the Gros Puys which you can see from the campsite - the reception staff will help with details of walks to do.
