Swanage, Dorset, England
Fully-serviced concrete and grass caravan site
Liked Close to Swanage easy access route. Pitch was ok quite level.
Disliked What could be a very nice site is in fact like trying sleeping on the M5. People turning up as late as 22.30hrs and pitching a tent, to the constant traffic of people coming to and frow late into the night, the speed limit as most sites is 5 mph how ever most people read this as a lot higher. The toilets were clean on one day of the 3 the cleaner told us she was on her own hence the other 2 days they were filthy. The site advertised shop on site, clearly been closed for some time(photos). The Elsan nearest to us was next to the food outlet!! Well dirty old caravan. The next Elsan point was too far to carry to, and that was all we could find for approximately 100 users!! They were both in a poor dirty condition. One point we think was the owner who spent most of his time driving up and down the dusty road in his black Range Rover on the phone hopefully he was security!! Not! More like a Traveler's site than camp site, then we were handed a flyer at 18.00 stating that there will be a DJ session starting at 20.00hrs oh Great boom boom boom until 22.30 ish.All this for £46.00 per night feel ripped off.

From the manager: Thank you for your review. Soo good to hear you enjoyed your stay. The road was very busy this last weekend with the Tropical pressure festival on locally. Good it din't disturb you at night, it is generally very quiet then. Re the water points they are in each camping area so are within 30m of every pitch. looking at your pitch you had a point about 7 to 8 m to your left. Sorry if it wasn't made clear to you Regards Richard

Liked Lovely location
Disliked The pitches are very uneven and nearly impossible to level a Motorhome. The toilet block is poor and too small for the amount of people. There are no rubbish bins on the lower field. The owner has a large house on the edge of lower filed and had a party on the Friday so no sleep for the campers, on the Saturday one of the letting cottages on the edge also had a party site rules quite after 10.00PM this dose not happen.

From the manager: Dear Peter, Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased to read that you appreciated the views, the quiet location, and found our staff helpful. However, we would like to clarify a few points, as several of your comments do not reflect the actual situation on site. During your stay, there were a total of seven adults on the campsite, including yourselves. Our sanitary facilities include four showers and five toilets, which is more than sufficient for this level of occupancy. For this reason, we find the remark about insufficient facilities difficult to understand. Regarding the chemical disposal point, there is a proper rinsing facility with a sufficiently long water hose situated right beside it. We therefore do not recognise the issue described. We are also surprised by the low scores for cleanliness and customer service. As you mentioned yourself, our staff was helpful, and we maintain strict cleaning routines with multiple thorough cleanings per day. No concerns were raised during your stay, and no irregularities were observed. Had anything not been up to standard, we would have appreciated the opportunity to address it immediately. As for WiFi and the surrounding area: we do not advertise WiFi on the pitches, and our campsite is clearly presented as a quiet, rural location in a small mountain village. This setting is intentionally aimed at guests seeking peace, nature, and outdoor activities. We provide a wide range of walking, cycling, and driving routes free of charge, which many of our guests greatly enjoy. It seems that our campsite may not have aligned with your personal expectations. While we regret that we did not fully meet them, we believe this reflects a mismatch in preferences rather than shortcomings in the facilities or services provided. Kind regards, Jelle & Dennis

Liked The area is good with local beach bars and restaurants near by.
Disliked The site is a mess, the pitches are like a farmer’s field, the electric hook ups are mostly long reel extension leads. There are a lot of shacks( holiday sheds) with kids running riot, very noisy until late, if you have a large Motorhome forget it.

From the manager: Dear Peter, Thank you very much for your recent review and for choosing to stay with us in May. We're really pleased to hear you found the site clean and well-kept, especially the toilet and shower facilities, and that you appreciated the level pitches and the friendliness of our team. We do understand your comments regarding the road and occasional air traffic noise. Our location is clearly shown on the website, so we hope guests are aware of the surroundings before booking. That said, one of the advantages of our position is the excellent transport links, including a 24-hour bus service right outside the gate with direct routes to both Cheltenham and Gloucester - a convenience many of our guests really value. Liked Holiday park as a whole is great. However the so called premium pitches are not very level we use all our ramps and could not level. They have quite strict rules on what type of van you have but not in forced we were woken twice in middle of the night by people staring engine’s we assume for extra heating, also people with noisy diesel heaters in vans with very noisy side slide door’s slamming all the time.
Disliked Pitches not level, noise at night, builders van not suited for the site, people use I h diesel heaters, ehicle moving around maybe leaving at 3am.
