Powered earth site (private bathroom amenities)
Liked Fantastic campsite! Loved the private shower and toilet and sink. Had a useful little shop for basics and a book swap service. Even though the campsite is near the road it felt quiet and relaxed. It is right next to the football ground so we went and watched a match which was great fun. Bus stop right outside the campsite into Caceres at the weekend. During the week you have to cross over the bridge - 5 minute walk.

Fantastic food and atmosphere at the Irish Bar for Halloween. Cycling in the area was amazing!
Disliked A bit expensive in winter when outdoor pool closed but it was the only site open in the area and very nice.

Cormery, Indre-et-Loire, France
Power optional grass site
Liked Wonderful little site! Totally recommend. Great for a stopover heading south or north. Everything was spotless and clean. Pitches were flat. Romane the owner is really helpful and friendly, giving advice about the local area. He takes a lot of pride in keeping his little site clean and tidy. He will go out of his way to make you feel welcome. Easy to get bus into Tours - a 2 minute walk to bus stop. The village of Cormery is lovely too to wander around. Good bakeries and a nice restaurant - Hotel de Ville. The Bohemian cycle path runs right past the site and we that’s a wonderful 4 hour cycle through the countryside - very easy to folllow the marked signs.

Liked Nice quiet location. Good for walking. We walked across Cockthorpe Common - beautiful - to the Coast Path following part of the circular route to Morton and then we continued to Blakeney and Cley. Caught the Coasthopper bus from Cley to Wells for £3 and then took a taxi back to Cockthorpe - be warned taxis are like gold dust and no fleet in Wells so you need to prebook. Last Coasthopper bus is around 6.30pm.
Disliked It was expensive for a field with a portaloo.

Liked Location is perfect - right next to Bluebell Railway and Sheffield Park National Trust so no need to move the van. Brewery across the road is nice and the owner had a little bar on the site too which was fun! There is no WiFi but we knew that in advance and it didn’t bother us at all.
Disliked Nothing!

Culworth, Northamptonshire, England
Sunnyfield unpowered grass and earth campervan site
Liked This is a great campsite. You can camp wherever you like. The views are lovely - and if you walk up towards the farm the views become amazing - the chimney pots of Culworth look like something out of a Jane Austen novel. I understand that the owners are extending the site so you will soon be able to camp at the top of the hill - we will definitely be returning to do that! The composting toilets are great - the sawdust makes the toilets smell so much better than normal ones and everything feels very clean. The showers were great - in a little corrugated iron shack and boiling hot with lots of hooks for clothes. The owners also have provided a few games and we very much enjoyed playing Giant Connect4!
The village is lovely - the pub has strange opening hours though - closes at 6pm on Saturdays so don’t get caught out! The Star Inn in Sulgrave village has now sadly permanently closed - we got caught out by that.
