What customers say
A chill, no-frills spot with heaps of room & great country views, perfect for hikers with direct Ridgeway access. Guests loved the simple, quiet vibe & easy check-in. Basic but clean portaloos & cold showers, fire pits to hire. Site can be windy, facilities are basic, but good value & a relaxed feel.

Exactly what it says on the tin. Honest budget friendly campsite.
Unpowered grass and earth campervan, tent or trailer tent site
Liked Plenty of space, love the fire pits provided (at small cost) close to local amenities but when on site feels like you are away from everything, beautiful views morning and evening and ran by good friendly people. Will definitely be visiting again.

Liked Great to get away from it all. Back to basics.
Disliked Queues for the toilets in the morning because of big school group.

Excellent simple camping site. Very chilled, great views and walks.
Unpowered grass and earth campervan, tent or trailer tent site
Liked Spacious site and pitches, great views, very clean, no road noise and beautiful walks on the Ridgeway. Easy check in / out process. Full visibility of little ones too so allows them to roam free a bit further. Great for a night or two stay.
Yes the toilets are portaloos, but it clearly states this and they are very clean and well stocked, never had to wait either. Could possibly add a second wash up station in the future - it wasn’t too busy for our stay, but it could at busier times.

Unpowered grass and earth campervan, tent or trailer tent site
Liked Honestly really enjoyed the stay
Easy to find
Lots of space
Close to great walking routes
Has portiloos, showers, sinks
Can pitch up next to car
Quite & peaceful
Disliked The site was quite big (which is good) but meant that there was quite a walk each time to use the 6 or so portiloos. Can maybe consider spreading them out if possible?

Lovely location, back-to-basics site. Check the wind forecast!
Unpowered grass and earth campervan, tent or trailer tent site
Liked Lovely location, easy to get to & right next to a walking path. Beautiful views all around. The manager was really friendly and checked in multiple times during the day. Walking distance to Wallingford town, which is on the Thames and well worth a visit in itself. Noon check-in was great. Great walking for those with a dog, loads of space on the field at this time of year.
Disliked Very open to the wind across the entire field - zero protection, saw a tent get partially blown away when I was there and I struggled with my T6 wind out awning deployed. I don't know how common that amount of wind is but depending on your camping setup it could be an issue, just be aware.
Absolute bare-bones facilities on the site, but to be entirely fair this is called out very clearly online when booking - it's just a fact that the toilets are a bank of portaloos, the showers are cold and there are cold water taps at various points around the field. Be aware and manage your expectations accordingly.

From the manager: Thanks Rob, glad you enjoyed your stay. Although the site is very open the winds this week have been unusually strong but this seems to be the case across the country. Hope to see you again :)
