Amazing vibe

July 2026

Liked The vibe! This campsite is one of the most chilled sites I've stayed at. This was our sixth time staying and it was just as lovely as always. They have compost loos, but they are the cleanest ones I've ever used. The staff are lovely and so are the other campers. The Priddy Folk Festival was on this particular camp and we were surrounded by folk musicians playing, which made it extra special.

Disliked Would love if they have showers, but they don't... and they make this clear in advance, so this is not affecting my score.

Really lovely vibe. Will definitely stay again.

May 2026

Liked Really lovely vibe. Camping field is pitchless, so you can choose where to pitch up. Lots of space available. Three proper flushing loos. Drinking water tap. Elsan point. Scones with cream and jam was a lovely treat! Will definitely stay again.

Disliked There are no showers... BUT we knew this before we camped, which is why we haven't marked the campsite down for this.

Jan 2026

Liked Really lovely site. The pitches are well looked after and the facilities are excellent. Our van easily fitted on the wide concrete hardstanding pitch and we had plenty of grass beside our pitch to put up our gazebo. Proper flushing toilets and decent water pressure in the showers. Really decent price for EHU pitch with own water tap. Definitely staying here again.

Disliked Nothing. Really lovely site.

Sept 2025

Liked Lovely flat camping field with large pitches. Hot showers, flushing toilets. Really decent on-site shop.

Disliked The toilets and showers weren't cleaned by staff in the five days were were there. There signs for people to mop out showers after use, but not everyone did this and it wasn't monitored.

From the manager: Good Morning We are sad about this review, our wardens are extremley good at monitoring the shower and toilet cleanliness, As per many many reviews Mandy is very good at this, and prides herself how clean these are. If they were not to your standard did you contact my wardens their number is displayed on the back of your tag and also at the gate for entrance and who you checked in with Also in the shop we have our staff who are here Monday - Friday 7am - 5.30pm Saturday 8am - 5pm Sunday 9am - 3pm If you do decide to give us another go and find that anything is wrong please either contact the wardens or site shop and we will be straight round

Potential campsite, but not clean

June 2025

Liked This campsite has potential: pitches are large; privacy fences are lovely; showers and toilets are properly plumbed in.

Disliked We arrived at 2.30pm on the Sunday and left at 10.30am on the Tuesday, and at no point during this time were the toilets or showers cleaned. We had 30°C heat, so they were very smelly. We ended up using our motorhome facilities, but those in tents won't have been as lucky. The neighbouring farm is an industrial dairy farm. It's noisy and smells of silage. Obviously, the campsite can't do anything about its neighbours, but it's something people should consider before booking. While we were there, because of the 30°C heat, the neighbouring farm was carrying out their evening milking at 10pm (to stop the cows suffering from heat stress). This meant machine noise and milk tankers into the evening. The silage smelt rancid in the heat and there were swarms of flies from the silage. If you do stay at this campsite, avoid the hot weather!

Booked for 3 nights, stayed for just 1... because of the train noise

May 2025

Liked I really wanted to love this campsite. The pitches were flat and spacious, the people running it were lovely (as was their dog), and the vibe was perfect. The flushing toilet was spotless, as were the recycling facilities, and the campsite was generally well cared for. It also attracted a lovely bunch of campers and I felt very safe. I can understand why the overall score is 9.6. But the train noise was just too much for me.

Disliked The site is next to mainline train tracks that have trains running at least three time per hour during the day and two per hour during the evening, starting around 6am and finishing shortly before midnight. Although some reviews mention the trains, it’s not mentioned in the main blurb for the campsite, which I think is unfair, and I ask the campsite to update this. Not everyone (including me) reads through the reviews. If I see a 9.6 score, I assume the blurb is accurate with no key details missing. What I would say to those reading this is that if you’re not bothered by noise, then please stay, as it’s a lovely spot. Anyone sensitive to noise should give it a miss.

From the manager: Hi sorry to hear that you left early because of the tran noise unfortunately you did ask to pitch next to the facilities as this is the closest pitch to the train line so the noise is louder than further up the site if you would have mentioned it to us we could have moved you to a different pitch we have contacted pitch up to get them to update the info on the site so hopefully everyone is aware when booking thank you for your input

Clean site, big hill!

Sept 2024

Liked Site is clean and well looked after. Lovely toilets and showers. Takeaway food/bar. On the 301 bus to Ilfracombe and Combe Martin, plus a short walk from the closest pub. Harbour is pretty. Campsite is on coastal path. (We didn't have kids with us but would recommend to those who do as there's a room for kids/teens for when the weather is bad as well as a excellent play area.)

Disliked The campsite is on a hill, with all the facilities at the bottom of the hill. So you can't have a view *and* be near facilities. The beach is pretty inaccessible. It's not just 240 steps down to the beach, but you have to climb up a large hill to get to the top of the steps first!

June 2024

Liked Really lovely, chilled site. Felt at home as soon as we arrived. Pitchless, so you can camp wherever you want on the site, meaning friends can pit together. Allows fire pits. Onsite office, so there's a warden in case you have issues. Have already booked to go again next month. This time we'll be staying longer and checking out the pub that's only 5 mins walk away!

Disliked Compost loos and no showers - but the details tell you that *before* you book, which is why I've not knocked any stars off. Slight slope to the field - although it is possible to get an almost-flat pitch.

Lovely campsite, shame about the wind!

June 2024

Liked Really well organised campsite, with different size pitches to meet different needs. Excellent shower/toilet facilities. Small shop/cafe that does breakfast. Staff really friendly, was given a decent map of the site, plus was shown to pitch by staff member on a buggy.

Disliked The wind! We had to re-pitch our awning multiple times. (The campsite is definitely in a wind tunnel - just looking at the extra storm straps on the seasonal pitches will tell you that!) Wifi wasn't free (so didn't use). Phone signal (both Three and Vodafone) was poor.

Great campsite, outstanding team

Nov 2023

Liked Outstanding campsite team. Camping with friends in the midst of Storm Ciaran and the campsite upgraded anyone on grass to hardstanding to ensure we could all camp safely. Layout is good with all pitches having space for an awning. Facilities are clean and modern. Lovely dog walk and you can also walk round the fishing lakes. Really peaceful campsite.

We received a text message prior…

Sept 2023

Liked We received a text message prior to arrival to let us know the height restrictions of the main entrance (railway bridge) and alternative entrance if necessary. We'd booked a grass pitch but were moved to a hardstanding pitch at no extra cost because there was space and the ground was boggy – really impressed by this. Site itself was lovely. Facilities were decent (although the toilet cubicles are narrow). The river walk into town was lovely.

Disliked The toilet cubicles were very narrow... but the site is looking to update its facilities, so I'm looking forward to staying again once this has been done!

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely review! As you rightly say, the toilets/shower block will be significantly upgraded during the closed season of 2023/2024. We're so glad you enjoyed your stay with us overall and that you felt well looked after - we look forward to welcoming you back again soon!

Pitchless campsite with stunning views and decent facilities

Apr 2023

Liked The site is pitchless, so we were able to park up in a circle and have a central area for our fire pit. The views were stunning. Other reviews have mentioned the slope down to the toilets/showers, so wanted to mention this is now a gravel path, so much safer to navigate.

Disliked The field didn't drain when it rained. If camping in a tent, you'd need to choose your pitch *very* carefully.

Lovely little site with excellent facilities

Oct 2022

Liked Lovely little site that's well looked after. Excellent facilities - toilets and showers are properly plumbed in. Owner popped over a couple of times to check all was okay. Felt very welcome. Will definitely visit again. Local area: half a mile from the beach, local shop and local pub, so you don't need a car. The Perch on the seafront is a lovely place to stop for a glass of something or tea and cake. Half a mile to Lancing station if you want to explore further afield.

Perfect pub campsite

July 2022

Liked The perfect pub campsite. The pub is lovely, does excellent food, has genuinely friendly staff. The campsite has a slight slope (nothing dramatic) and there's space to find flat pitches. There's a wild grass area at the bottom of the slope so there's no issues with mud after any rain. Toilet/shower facilities are decent. There are disabled facilities, but the slope/steps of the site might make it impractical for physically disabled people. The site attracts a really chill crowd. The local village shop is 1.2 miles away, as are another two pubs and the bus service to Banbury.

Disliked There's an industrial business nearby that has "humming" coming from one of its units. It's only during the day, so won't affect your sleep. But wanted to mention it in case anyone with sensory issues is reading this review.

My second visit to Puddledock Woods,…

Sept 2021

Liked My second visit to Puddledock Woods, so I knew to pitch my tent near the entrance to the woodland area so I was closest to the toilets. Paths have been improved and were less muddy this time (would still recommend walking boots or trail shoes).

Beautiful woodland camp setting with amenities nearby if needed

July 2021

Liked The vibe of the campsite is perfect. You can get on with being an independent traveller/camper, but the minute you need assistance the owner steps in. I got to choose from the available empty camping pitches, rather than being assigned to one, which was a nice touch. Each pitch has a fire pit (no grill, you need to bring your own) and a picnic table. The owner also sells fire wood and matches if you need them. You're also welcome to collect your own fire wood for free. The outdoor showers are amazing. The water is beautifully hot and you get to shower with the night sky above you. There's also an indoor wet room if you'd prefer it. The camp also has two flushing toilets, two fridges, a microwave, and both indoor and outdoor washing up facilities. The local convenience store is just under a mile away, as is the closest bus route (the 8/8A between Canterbury and Margate). As a solo traveller, I'm used to having to pay a standard pitch fee that covers two people... but Puddledock charged me for just me! :)

Disliked The compost toilets mentioned on Pitchup no longer exist and the trek to the flushing toilets is longer than I'd have liked.
