Like to be kept busy with lots of fun activities while on your holidays? A stay at Lifestyle Holidays at Domaine Des Ormes is likely to suit you very well indeed. This lively Brittany site is set within the grounds of an elegant château, on a huge country estate with wooded areas and lakes, and its exceptional list of facilities is fit for royalty too. This is an excellent site for families with varied interests, as there’s just so much to do right here. The list of entertainment options starts with an 18-hole golf course (with clubhouse and driving range), an equestrian centre (for horseback estate tours and show jumping) and a state-of-the-art football facility (so good it’s used by top-tier team FC Rennes). Beyond that are two tennis courts, an archery facility, miniature golf, a treetop adventure course, a play area and a couple of lakes for fishing, canoeing and pedalos. And then of course there’s the pools – an outdoor tropical pool complex and an indoor lagoon pool, both with enough waterslides and waterfalls to keep the family happy for hours whatever the weather. Oh, and you may well want to keep an eye on kids’ club activities and evening entertainment options too… In between all of this activity, you’ll need to find time for eats and drinks – and luckily that’s easily done, as the site has a grand total of four bars, three restaurants and a pizzeria/takeaway to choose from. There’s also a shop on site should you fancy using your caravan’s kitchen – or you could head to the local town, Dol-de-Bretagne (10 minutes’ drive) for more shops, a big supermarket and several restaurants.

Local attractions

Should you find time to get out from the site (and you should certainly try…) there are plenty of options around for days out. An easy way to start is to hire bikes on site for a tour of some of the pretty local towns and villages, perhaps cycling up to Dol-de-Bretagne (half an hour by bike) to visit the Cathédraloscope museum and ancient Menhir du Champ Dolent. Another great option is to make the half-hour drive to Brittany’s north coast to sample oysters and other shellfish in Cancale or spend the day in Saint-Malo, exploring the old town, walking the ancient city walls and visiting the aquarium before settling down to relax on the beach (although there are also watersports on offer if you want to keep the activity going…) For other days out, you could head north to the fabulous Mont Saint-Michel (35 minutes’ drive) or south to stroll along the historic streets of Rennes (40 minutes).
