Penally Court Farm… a clifftop cracker. Sandy beaches, castles, coastal walks with spectacular views, colourful harbour towns – Pembrokeshire needs little introduction. But this little bit of it, in Penally just above Tenby, deserves more than simply introducing: ideally via fanfares, fireworks, a parade… But none of the above is needed on this peaceful family-run site. In lush green fields on the cliffs overlooking Tenby, it concentrates on simple, well-maintained facilities that don’t get in between you and the surrounds. You can park up where you stay, cook up alfresco feasts on barbecues, or take a three-minute stroll to a pub with grub in Penally. The village also has a shop for stocking up on basics; bigger stores and supermarkets are under 10 minutes' drive away in Tenby. Not that you’d only visit Tenby for baby wipes and beef burgers – it’s a handsome harbour town with pastel-hued houses, a castle, a fort (on an island) and lots of spots for eats and treats. And a cluster of beaches. The 20-minute walk into town is a terrific way to introduce yourselves to the area, or you could just run into the sea (five minutes’ walk from the site).

What customers say

Great spot, easy walk to beach & Tenby. Friendly, helpful staff. Facilities clean but a bit dated. Sloping pitches need blocks. Some road noise. Good base for exploring, would come back.

Liked Not a lot. Original photo on site showed cliff top park with sea view. Very misleading.

Disliked As above. Dogs running around site off lead. No shop as described on Pitch up. Long walk into Tenby. Pitch next to very loud and busy road. Cobwebs in toilets, not very clean. I left a day early

Disliked Shower/Toilet facilities were grubby. A dirty mop and bucket was left in there with dirty smelly water. I didn’t use them after this I got showered in my Motorhome.

Pitch next to a constant loud busy main road/motorway

Pitches too close together

No wardens were checking on noisy neighbours. The owners have a reception in a static caravan but lock up and go home quite early so there’s nobody manning the site?!

All we heard all evening was constant speeding traffic which was only separated by a bush. It made our Motorhome vibrate and I took ages to get to sleep. Also our neighbours talking loudly until 11pm each night. They were sat right at the side of our Motorhome. The pitches are too close together.

Unfortunately this has resulted in us not returning to this site. Tenby though has amazing beaches and a beautiful town with loads to do so we will be returning there but to a different site. This time I will make sure we are not next to a main road!! My mistake!!

Liked Absolutely beautiful location. The site is well kept.
The site manager Kevin and son Mark are the kindest and most helpful people we have ever come across on any site we ve ever been on..

Kevin helped us out straight away with our electrics, helped to get us set up with an electrical lead so we could enjoy our holiday.

My sisters van broke down on arrival and he sourced and fitted her part.

I don't know anyone else that would do that.

To say he went above and beyond is an understatement, Absolutely Top man!

Lovely lovely friendly people.
I would recommend this site to everyone.

Beach is 10 minute walk, excellent for kids to go crabbing or playing in the sea.
WiFi dependant on how many guests staying but that I expect due to location as well.

You can walk from Penally into Tenby Town across the beach, which we did once.
Handy to have a trolley to carry kids stuff for the beach.

I would highly recommend a trip to Caldey Island, its absolutely stunning.
Also recommend mackerel and bait fishing trip.

Beautiful pub, The Cross Inn, lovely staff serving tasty food.

We will definitely be staying again!

Thanks so much Kevin,
Best wishes
Ann-Marie, Mark and George

Local attractions

Tenby is a port of call for people wanting more than a paddle on the sea: boat trips will take you round the cliffs or out to spot the seals (pick a sunset cruise for marriage proposals, or just to be romantic) and to visit Caldey Island, a rocky nugget of peace, nature and history offshore where monks have been living since the sixth century (not the same ones, of course). To hit the beach, popular Saundersfoot and Pendine are 15 and 30 minutes' drive away, while surfers head for the big waves at Broad Haven and Newgale (40 and 50 minutes). The Pembrokeshire Coastal Path is 186 miles long, but don’t feel you have to do it in a day; marked trails along the cliffs give you cracking views and plenty of opps for nature spotting everywhere you go. (A popular short stretch is the eight-miler from Tenby to the castle at Manorbier – and the pub.) Also in the area, Heatherton World of Activities (10 minutes) gets you zipping through the trees, climbing ropes and driving go-karts; Oakwood Theme Park (half an hour) has rides to thrill and spill your drinks over, and at Folly Farm (20 minutes), you can combine a traditional fairground jolly with meeting farm animals and exotic beasts.
