  • 10 minutes from Heatherton and 30 from Oakwood
Penally Court Farm… a clifftop cracker. Sandy beaches, castles, coastal walks with spectacular views, colourful harbour towns – Pembrokeshire needs little introduction. But this little bit of it, in Penally just above Tenby, deserves more than simply introducing: ideally via fanfares, fireworks, a parade… But none of the above is needed on this peaceful family-run site. In lush green fields on the cliffs overlooking Tenby, it concentrates on simple, well-maintained facilities that don’t get in between you and the surrounds. You can park up where you stay, cook up alfresco feasts on barbecues, or take a three-minute stroll to a pub with grub in Penally. The village also has a shop for stocking up on basics; bigger stores and supermarkets are under 10 minutes' drive away in Tenby. Not that you’d only visit Tenby for baby wipes and beef burgers – it’s a handsome harbour town with pastel-hued houses, a castle, a fort (on an island) and lots of spots for eats and treats. And a cluster of beaches. The 20-minute walk into town is a terrific way to introduce yourselves to the area, or you could just run into the sea (five minutes’ walk from the site).

Electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked Really helpful on arrival. Place was spotless and very well maintained. Showers and toilets very clean.
Some lovely walks over the coastal path and the beaches are gorgeous and clean.

Disliked All the Motorhomes seem to get put on the same row of pitches which is next to the noisy road with a hedge between the road and your van even though there were lots of other empty pitches. Lots of noisy speeding traffic.
There wasn’t really a grey waste area for Motorhomes as it was in a small area behind the toilets where Motorhomes couldn’t get in. We were told to drive up to reception and park up and let the waste roll down the path into a drain but when we left we couldn’t find the area so didn’t bother.
The pitches are very sloped so you need large wedges rather than small which we didn’t have so our van was sloping backwards

Electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked Nice well kept site, all staff very friendly. The lad on reception when we arrived was very helpful, giving us pointers to local trains, buses, taxis and pubs.
Toilets and showers are clean and tidy. There is an older block with toilets and shower cubicles or the newer ones with everything in one space.
Local pubs within a couple of minutes walk are the Cross Inn and The Overlander. Both do food, the Cross was very busy when we went and couldn't serve us so we ate at the Overlander which was very nice.
Good walk along the beach into Tenby, which to is about 40 minutes at a stroll.
Definitely would stay again if in the area.

Electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked The site itself is well managed. Staff helpful. Loved the showers, they were clean and private. Each shower had a loo and sink. Water pressure was good too. Although there was no shop on site, amenities were close by.

Disliked Some of the pitches were on a slope. Don’t let this put you off.

Local attractions

Tenby is a port of call for people wanting more than a paddle on the sea: boat trips will take you round the cliffs or out to spot the seals (pick a sunset cruise for marriage proposals, or just to be romantic) and to visit Caldey Island, a rocky nugget of peace, nature and history offshore where monks have been living since the sixth century (not the same ones, of course). To hit the beach, popular Saundersfoot and Pendine are 15 and 30 minutes' drive away, while surfers head for the big waves at Broad Haven and Newgale (40 and 50 minutes). The Pembrokeshire Coastal Path is 186 miles long, but don’t feel you have to do it in a day; marked trails along the cliffs give you cracking views and plenty of opps for nature spotting everywhere you go. (A popular short stretch is the eight-miler from Tenby to the castle at Manorbier – and the pub.) Also in the area, Heatherton World of Activities (10 minutes) gets you zipping through the trees, climbing ropes and driving go-karts; Oakwood Theme Park (half an hour) has rides to thrill and spill your drinks over, and at Folly Farm (20 minutes), you can combine a traditional fairground jolly with meeting farm animals and exotic beasts.
