Towy Valley Caravan Park: Panoramic views

General

  • Compact and friendly adults-only site in the scenic Towy valley
  • Just off the A40, 15 mins' drive from Carmarthen and 10 from Llandeilo
  • Welsh landmarks such as Aberglasney Gardens around five minutes away

Sandwiched between two working dairy farms in a cracking countryside setting is adults-only Towy Valley Caravan Park, with views of the green Carmarthenshire surrounds. It's also in a strategic sightseeing position between the towns of Llandeilo and Carmarthen, and just off the main A40 road.

But where to first…? Perhaps have a gander at the gorgeous Edwardian cloister gardens of Aberglasney, just over five minutes’ drive away, or the National Botanic Garden of Wales and its massive single-span glasshouse (it’s the longest in the world…), about 10 minutes away.

All those heady floral scents got you feeling the need for another lie-down? Head back to the park – preferably with some treats picked up in Llandeilo, about 10 minutes away, for a meal while watching the sun go down across the valley scenery.

Towy Valley Caravan Park has free modern and heated shower and bathroom facilities. Washing-up and chemical disposal facilities are also available, and public transport is accessible from just outside the site if you’d like to travel the region without your vehicle.

Please note

The campground/park does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dog Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

Small quiet site with beautiful country views. Loved the chickens running free around the site. Small attractive dog walk which was handy on a very wet day. Accessible to places of interest. Very approachable staff. Excellent breakfast at Daffies (only open on certain days) on next visit will plan to book and arrive early for Sunday lunch.

It was a shame the on-site bistro is only open part-time at the moment, and it was a bit of a walk to the nearest pub.

Level pitch with ehu and water.
Quiet site despite proximity to the road.
    Facilities excellent.
About ten minutes drive away from Aberglasney Gardens and The National Botanic Garden of Wales. Both of which we really enjoyed visiting.

Friendly small site. Owners couldn't be more accommodating. We had trouble making the booking in time and Simon made allowances to make sure we could stay.
Simon and Nat kept us informed from booking til day of arrival and more so when we arrived and stayed, we with what was going on in and around the area. There is a bistro on site which we had the pleasure of eating at for 1 day as we were so busy with lots to do in west Wales. Reasonable priced bistro. There is also a dog walking area to the front of the site where our dog was happy to roam around off of her lead.
Loved the hens roaming around all day, lovely touch! We will definitely be returning. Thanks again Simon and Nat

We only stayed one night on our way to Pembrokeshire. Really friendly and helpful owner. Short drive to lovely areas to walk and explore. Short drive to eatery nearby that serves good food at any time (even 5pm on a Sunday). Good facilities, big and clean shower.

    Disliked:

We like quite remote sites and this one was just off the main road so there was a little road noise for us, others might not find that a problem. Toilets a bit drainy smelling. Quite a small site, seems to have several long term caravans hooked up. Bit close to longer term residence who liked the TV on loud, but we might have been unlucky.

From the manager...

Thank you for your review . The tv volume has recently been brought to our attention and addressed .
If you had brought it to our attention and the ‘ drainy smelling toilets ‘ then we could have dealt with it at the time of your stay .
We would always urge anyone who has any complaints to tell us directly rather than putting it into a review after they have left . This gives us the opportunity to sort out any issues as they arise .
Thank you

Local attractions

The Towy Valley is home to a clutch of excellent Welsh sights, from the hilltop Dinefwr Castle, a 15-minute drive away (climb up to the walls for stunning views over the countryside), to the sweeping estuary and castle at the pretty village of Laugharne (half an hour).

Another must-see castle, Carreg Cennen, sits on the top of a limestone precipice around a 20-minute drive away, with views across the Brecon Beacons National Park; get your hiking boots on for walks around this area, one of Wales’ most postcard-worthy, passing by waterfalls and ponds enroute. (Still more appetite for castles? Drive to Dryslwyn Castle in five minutes – or hike over in about 45 minutes.)

If you’re feeling lazy, drive to Carmarthen (20 minutes from the site) instead to jump on the Gwili Steam Railway’s antique train or dip in and out of the boutiques. Love a legend? Locals reckon Merlin was born in this market town – there are even the remains of an old oak tree named after the wizard in the foyer of St. Peter’s Civic Hall.

Must see
