  • Restaurant with alfresco dining; 10 minutes' drive from the beach
Mountain views, sandy beaches and a rich cultural heritage – what more do you need to click on the green button and book your spot at adults-only Afon Braint? This peaceful rural site – which is so close to the Welsh river of the same name and its Giant Rhuddgaer Stepping Stones (15 minutes’ walk), it has borrowed that very name for itself – sits on Anglesey’s south-eastern corner, within the coastal belt that makes up the Anglesey National Landscape. On the A4080 road between the villages of Niwbwrch (just under a mile, about 20 minutes on foot) and Dwyran (five minutes’ drive or a 25-minute walk), Afon Braint comes with spacious gravel touring pitches all with the option for electric hook-up. The site also has essentials such as a toilet block and fresh drinking water, a washing-up area and grey and chemical waste disposal points. Spectacular views of the peaks of Eryri (Snowdonia) accompany the meals you consume in the picnic area, and there’s also a restaurant with a large patio and covered pods if you want to take in the mountain vistas regardless of the weather. The nearest pub is in Niwbwrch, which also has a fish and chip shop and a supermarket, with more shopping and dining options in Llangefni (20 minutes) and Bangor (25 minutes). Windswept strolls await at Maes Parcio Ynys Llanddwyn and Newborough Beach (15 minutes), a nature reserve with a large dune system, marshes and a pine forest, plus tidal Llanddwyn Island (20 minutes), with a lighthouse overlooking the rocky shore.

What customers say

This top-rated, small, adults-only park gets kudos for its spotless facilities, ripper hosts, and killer Snowdonia views. Sites are flat & roomy. The on-site cafe's a hit with good tucker and pizza delivery. A few folks found the shower situation a bit light on, but it's flagged. One review mentioned a rough arrival due to check-in mix-up.

Power optional gravel motorhome site

Liked The intimate pitches with a grassed area to sit at and enjoy the stunning scenery and sunsets. The camp site has everything we needed and was perfect for one nights stay. Could have quite easily stayed another day if we had time. Very good set up and thoroughly enjoyed are walk in to newborough forest/beach

Power optional gravel motorhome site

Liked Lovely clean pretty well set up cl. Nick the host was so lovely. I booked the wrong dates so turned up 3 weeks early! He did everything he could and managed to transfer dates. He shows you round site and answers any questions.

Disliked Nothing. No showers but we knew that when booking. The cafe only open weekends but not a slur for the campsite.

Power optional gravel motorhome site

Liked Location (for me, decent walk to Newborough beach, but could be a little isolated for some)
Views of Snowdonia.
Small, and so only 4 neighbours at most.

Disliked No shower facilities. (Would be a worthy addition)
Limited opening of the cafe. Weekends only I believe... although the Y Marram bar/restaurant is only 5 min walk away and it is very nice!

Liked Lovely view. Nice flat pitches with laurel growing between each pitch as dividers. Great facilities. Friendly welcome. Cafe only open at weekends currently as less visitors to Anglesey due to fuel prices. Cafe looks lovely.

Disliked Nothing.

Power optional gravel motorhome site

Liked Very friendly welcome, large level gravel pitch. Facilities were very clean. Only 5 van spaces so quiet which is perfect for our two dogs. Views of snowdonia on a clear day. Well placed for travelling around the island and Llanddwyn beach is so beautiful.

Power optional gravel motorhome site

Liked Very cosy place to spend a couple of nights. It had everything I need ,and the owner where very helpful. It only holds 5 vans at at time. The place has a locked gate that only you can used. Which made me feel safe.as I travel on my own. Its dog friendly and the small coffee shop (open weekends) was lovely too.

Disliked If you was saying there longer a shower would be good. As my van doesn't have one.

Power optional gravel motorhome site

Liked Nick greeted us as we arrived and explained how everything worked. Lovely little adult only site. Great views over to the mountains of Snowdonia. Nice secure gated access with key fob. Everything exceptionally clean and tidy. Cafe closed but as visitor numbers have been affected by the fuel prices etc it’s not feasible to stay open on quiet days. Happy to return in the future. Thank you.

Disliked Not a dislike but be aware you need the new regulation power cable. We didn’t have one but Nick kindly lent us one.
