  • Well-kept rural Denbighshire site raising money for charity
  • A 10-minute drive to the beaches of Rhyl and Prestatyn
  • Catering on site from Friday eve to Sunday morning
Want to book yourself a break and do some good for the world at the same time? What an excellent idea – and one that you can bring to reality when you stay at Pet Rescue Fundraising Camp Site, a five-acre site in the Denbighshire countryside just outside the village of Dyserth. Profits from stays go towards funding a pet rescue charity centre, so perhaps it’s no surprise that dogs are welcome to join you for a little holiday here. Doggy daycare is available for those who need it, and all dogs must be kept on a lead and supervised at all times (and you’ll need proof of up-to-date vaccinations for your pet to stay on site to ensure that all pets on site, including the site's rescue pets, stay protected from illness). This location makes a splendid spot for exploring north Wales – a cycle path runs past the entrance with a link to the North Wales Coastal Route, and there are plenty of walks around too. Rhyl and Prestatyn are both about 10 minutes’ drive away for beach times, and there are castles, gardens and all sorts of other things to fill days with. You’ll probably get a bit of a warm glow from knowing that you’re supporting a charitable cause by staying here – and that’s likely to grow even stronger when you see the facilities that have been provided. A washing-up area, toilets and showers are all included, and you can boost your break even further by hiring a firepit, grass heat shields (these are required for firepits or barbecues) or a windbreak. Logs can be purchased on site for the firepits. And that’s not all – there’s also a catering area that serves up cooked breakfasts, lunches, dinners and drinks (hot, cold and alcoholic) as well as running events like pizza nights and hotpot gatherings. The catering is open from Friday evening to Sunday morning breakfast.

Power optional grass site

Liked: Nice welcome, flat and well organised pitches. Nice touch with the little bar onsite. Site not too large so easy access to the facilities. For what we paid this was good value.

Disliked: Showers and toilets were a little dirty but this was probably down to the weather and rain so hard to keep clean all the time and the owners can't control this.
Recycling was a slightly hard to find but again understand this is hard to manage sometimes.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your kind recommendations and referrals to friends and family. Yes it a shame when the weather turns bad and it difficult to keep everywhere spick and span when campers are in and out of the facilities but hey that's part of the fun of camping is dealing with the weather (just be glad it's not Glastonbury).

I don't know how you missed the recycling it the 8 Ton large skip in the car park, (it's marked on your site map) and we pay for it to be emptied and sorted by the waste management company so the camper no longer need to sort their own waste (because many didn't) and this was the solution or face large finds for non-sorted bin waste.
Until your next visit we will try to order sunshine, happy camping and safe travels to you both and your two lovely dogs

Disliked: Would like some recycling options

This is for information not a criticisms
We did have recycling bins near reception but unfortunately campers put in mix rubbish and our staff are not paid to go through other people rubbish.
So we have a large skip camper are asked to place their rubbish in bagged, the sorters at the skip hire then recycle it.
The only other option is for campers to take their rubbish home but we all know 90% will throw it anywhere on the country lanes. So skip it and they recycle to save the planet or if you wish take it home as some campers do.
Happy camping and very safe travels until next we see you again

Unpowered grass site

Liked: Flat pitch, close to village with amenities. Liked the little pub with food. Clean and plenty of toilets / Shower.
Our little girl loved the little park - she played with the other kids for hours and was in full view of our camper.
Very nice site!

Disliked: The long walk to the shop, about a mile! But that was my own poor planning.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks for your review and recommendations, it always so nice to see children making new friends and still being able to keep your eyes on them.
I hope you appreciated the number of steps to the local shop you need to get a step counter:) Mind the dogs would have enjoyed the walk no dough our little shop can only help with small items like Milk, tea, coffee and sugar, tinned foods etc but 3/4 of a mile to the shops not to bad and the views are lovely
Until we see you all again happy camping and safe travel's

Unpowered grass site

Liked: Nice and clean close to prestatyn and Rhyl.

Disliked: Pitches very close to each other.
No one kept an eye on the noise. (Cars starting and left running after midnight.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: How sad you don't wish to visit again because of being disturbed in the night, we do come round at quite time but after that campers normally phone me (no matter what the time is) if there is a problem then I can deal with it straight away my number is on the paper work you were given on arrival.
I am so sorry you were disturbed. The pitch sizes are on the booking forms and at 7m x 12 m are normally large enough for a tent once again if it was an issue we could have sorted it out if you had spoken to us.
If you do change your mind about visiting again for perhaps more than one night, rest assured we will make an extra point to campers not starting vehicles after quite time as it doesn't normally happen.
Best wishes and happy camping with safe travels

Local attractions

Time to hit the coast? Take your bucket and spade to the sandy beaches of Rhyl or Prestatyn (both 10 minutes’ drive), get over to Llandudno (half an hour) to walk on the pier and ride the Great Orme tramway, or continue to Conwy (half an hour) to explore the castle. For rural walks you can stay local for the 15-minute stroll to Dyserth Falls, climb the peaks of the neighbouring Clwydian Range or dip your toes into Snowdonia National Park (40 minutes’ drive). The pretty pathways of Bodnant Garden (half an hour) are well worth a wander too. This being Wales, you’re never far from a castle – the turrets of Rhuddlan Castle (five minutes) are the closest, but TV fans may like to drop in at Gwrych Castle (15 minutes) to see where I’m A Celeb was staged.
