  • Peaceful dog-friendly site with views over Cardigan Bay
  • A 35-minute walk from New Quay; footpath to the Wales Coast Path
  • Shops and pubs in New Quay; playground and dog exercise area on site
Raring to go dolphin-spotting on the Wales Coast Path or fishing on a boat trip from New Quay? Very well – here’s Tyr Ffynnon Farm, an advantageous base for such coastal adventures. With 180-degree views over Cardigan Bay and a location just 35 minutes’ walk from New Quay, it would have been a shame to keep this quiet 38-acre working sheep farm for sheep only. Now, families and dogs (on leads) are welcome to come and relax at the elevated peninsular spot. There are plenty of walking areas away from the traffic – and just a couple of hundred metres from the entrance, there’s a public footpath where guests can join the Wales Coast Path. Spectacular views and the chance to spot dolphins… yes please. The coastal path passes through lively New Quay, where activities such as boat trips, sailing, fishing and watersports are on the agenda. Also called Cei Newydd, New Quay has a pretty harbour, sandy beaches and a sound selection of shops, pubs and restaurants for all your foodie desires. The pièce de resistance at Tyr Ffynnon Farm surely has to be the sublime sea-view sunsets that can be seen from the site. Other ace features include the modern shower and toilet facilities, which have hot electric showers, wash basins, toilets, electric hand dryers and electric sockets for hairdryers (in the ladies’ only) and a shaver point (in the gents’). Those with mini family members will also be pleased to find a playground and a fenced dog exercise area on site. Bonus points – the peaceful, friendly site is 20 minutes’ drive from Aberaeron, 35 minutes from Cardigan and 45 minutes from Aberystwyth.

What customers say

Awesome sea views, chill vibes and spotless amenities are a hit! Spacious, tidy sites with legend hosts. Great spot for New Quay & coast walks. Access road's a bit tight, showers cost a few bucks, but most reckon it's fair value. Some noted a bit of noise or limited stuff when it's chockers.

Liked Nice views.
Toilet/shower area was clean and modern.

Disliked A long way away from New quay town and the beach. With an uphill hike home.
Very narrow access road, overgrown, not really ideal for Motorhomes.
Payment balance was in cash or bank transfer only.
Coins were needed for showers. The coin unit only accepted 20p or £1 coins, you weren't able to top it up from inside the shower or tell how long you had left.
To be honest I think charging for showers is a bit cheeky, given the price of the site.
I wouldn't like to be camping here when it was very busy as in total the site has only 4 showers and 4 toilets.
We were hoping to do a load of washing while we were her, unfortunately the site had no facilities.
The reception area had an old shoe on a table that looked like it had been there weeks, the whole reception area was very scruffy, behind the scenes.
Had it not took us such a long time to get there I think we would probably have lost the booking fee and looked for somewhere else.

From the manager: We were awaiting a poor review from this chap who, it could be argued, was very unpleasant as soon as he arrived. He was extremely disgruntled when asked to move his motorhome over by 3ft as he had encroached onto the neighbours pitch. Even then he still insisted on parking incorrectly. He had a large campervan of which, it could be argued, he was not sufficiently experienced to drive. The shoe had only just been picked up off of the site ready to be disposed of, it is thought to have been a dog chew left by one of the campers. The beach, as stated in pitchup, is a five minute journey by car or a 25-30 minute walk dependant upon how fast you walk. The lane is only 0.9 miles long and we have requested multiple times for the council to cut the hedge back unfortunately we are not permitted to do this ourselves. To be honest, we felt he had such a bad attitude on arrival we almost asked him to leave there and then! Also, please be reminded that the deposit you paid is not in reality a deposit but commission to pitchup which amounted to around £10.41. If the site was so awful I am sure he would have forfeiited such a small amount and left to find a site more suited to his high standards.

Liked Staff great site great

Disliked Loud drunk people with JBL speakers had to move in the end thought I was at creamfields.

From the manager: Really disappointed that it was felt necessary to make these negative remarks. We were made aware in the very early evening that you were disturbed by the neighbouring pitch playing music. We immediately responded by asking for the music (albeit relatively quiet anyway) to be turned down and re-located you to another pitch over the other side of the field. You therefore were able to enjoy the peace and tranquility of the site without disturbance thus benefiting from the ‘wind down’ peace that you mention.. To liken it to Creamfields is absurd to say the least!

Liked Beautiful scene.. looks out of this world. Honestly waking up to it in the morning felt like a dream and only something you would see in movies. We been there twice now and honestly can not wait to go back again. We went with our two children (boys) and boys being boys they was so happy just to be running wild.

Local attractions

Days out in Aberaeron (20 minutes’ drive) – a regency town with a Georgian harbour and multi-coloured houses – could be spent taking yet more coastal walks, tucking into tapas and scallops around the harbour or licking a honey-flavoured ice cream by the sea. Strolls or fishing along the river Teifi might make it onto your itinerary in Cardigan (35 minutes). The town’s castle is on the riverside and has its own escape room. Another historical spot is in St Dogmaels (40 minutes), where there are abbey ruins with medieval roots. Aberystwyth (45 minutes) is much more than a university town. It’s also home to the National Library of Wales, a free museum and heaps of interesting shops. Elsewhere along the coast, Penbryn beach (25 minutes) is accessed through woodlands from the Wales Coast Path. A short detour from here will get you to Tresaith Waterfall (25 minutes).
