  • Dog-friendly site under a mile from the southern shore of Loch Lomond
  • A five-minute drive to the John Muir Way; 10 minutes from Balloch
  • Restaurants and shops 10 minutes’ drive away; walk to a nature reserve
If Loch Lomond is in your near future, no need to look any further for a relaxing, dog-friendly site on its southern shores. Under a mile from the loch’s shores and 10 minutes’ drive away from Balloch, the well-presented Lagganbeg Caravan Park prides itself on its peaceful vibes and top location in the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. Birdwatchers, gather. The site is a short 15 minutes’ walk away from RSPB Scotland Loch Lomond, where you might spot an osprey or white-tailed sea eagle over the water. Hikers, arm yourself with a trusty pair of walking shoes too. The site is around five minutes’ drive away from the 134-mile John Muir Way from Helensburgh to Dunbar. You’ll have your pick of a host of hiking and cycling trails suitable for all abilities in the local area too, including the likes of the West Loch Lomond Cycle Path and the National Cycle Route 7. A lighter 20-minute stroll is all it takes to get to the shore of Scotland's largest freshwater loch. Ogle over the surrounding munros for a while or take a gander at nearby Balloch (10 minutes’ drive) or Drymen (10 minutes), where there are restaurants and shops. Cities like Stirling (40 minutes) and Glasgow (50 minutes) are only a day trip away, as is Argyll and Bute. Plus, there are handy bus and train services from Balloch and Stirling. Lagganbeg Caravan Park is a family-run site, so it’s been very lovingly tended to facilities-wise. The toilet and shower block has rainfall showers and a family wet room, which is accessible for disabled guests. There’s also a laundry room with large-capacity washers, dryers and irons, all coin-operated, and hand-washing sinks and an indoor drying area.

Power optional grass tent site

Liked We stayed at this campsite for 3 nights and overall had a great experience.
The site was clean, the toilets and showers were well-maintained, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The location is perfect – just a short distance from Loch Lomond, Ben Lomond, and many other beautiful places worth visiting.

Disliked The only downside was the way tents were pitched – there didn't seem to be any clear layout or structure, so people just set up wherever they wanted. It felt a bit chaotic at times.

Excellent everthing.

Liked Great facilities for the size of the camping area, I've stayed in bigger areas with much smaller facilities.
Excellent pleasant staff.
Everthing clean and organised.
I'm a very fussy person but loved everthing about this place

Power optional grass tent site

Liked Toilets were excellent, very modern and clean. The campground was very quiet and well respected, grass was lovely and cars are left on the gravel to keep the field nice.

Disliked Nothing in particular. We had to deal with the dreaded midges but that's not the campsites fault!

From the manager: Thank you for your review. Sadly midges can be a nuisance, although not too bad this year.

Highly NOT recommended

Liked Nothing

Disliked I would like to start that I arrived 1 and a half hour before check-in just because I travel from another place to caravan park I couldn't find out how much time my way will take there is no place next to caravan park where I can stay and wait until 3pm to check-in because road there is very narrow so me and my wife we decided go there, especially because I know there was car park on caravan park and we can wait... Office was closed maybe because of lunch time so we decided go for walk, after we back, we went to reception and we were hearing that this is not a hotel and we should arrive 3pm I also was answered that doesn't matter if I will be on car park or on pitch I should arrive 3pm because of maintenance and things what people need to do there despite that thing that no one was working there during whole day... Young women with small baby on her hands was very rude and if not this thing that I paid before I just will take my caravan and look another place... People who have business should care about customers about this how we feel in they place especially because we paying for something what is really misunderstanding, another thing WIFI doesn't work all campsite we report this issue but and no one did anything with this even we change pitch to try find a sign of signal but unfortunately even this was unhelpful and also someone from office suggested that maybe I don't know how to use it... This is really shame... Chemical disposal facility was totally dirty walls covered in shi,,# some piece of yelow hose to clean your tank but even you won't touch because also was very dirty I think no one clean there I choose this place because of high rate but I don't know how is that because we were back from Fort William where Caravan park have less points but was better maintained than this and was 4 times bigger than this and people was helpful and smile and wasn't rude and more polite than here...

From the manager: Thank you for your review. I would like to address your comments. You did turn up to check in at 1.30 which is an hour and a half before check in at 3pm. The staff member did not say this is not a hotel, but did point out that check in was at 3pm. We do have a baby in reception as we support our staff with families and this is not an issue. The reason we have check in at 3pm is to let staff get their breaks and to carry out work that can't be do e easily with customers on the pitches or blocking car parks. During your stay we were cutting grass and strimming grass. Ckeaning bons store area and general maintenance. Not sure how you managed to miss that! Our staff are not rude to customers but sadly you were very rude to them. This is not something we tolerate and staff should not have to deal with.
You did come and report the WiFi issue to me and I politely checked that you had signed in correctly as this is usually the issue. You stated you had so we checked the wifi and found there was an issue. This was reported to the wifi provider and they tried to reset remotely. Sadly this wasn't possible and they are coming to site to fix the issue. However we did change onto a different pitch as requested so that you had a wifi signal, this also didn't please you.
Regarding your comment about the chemical disposal. This area is cleaned regularly and sadly some customers leave it in a disgusting state. I am sorry that you didn't think to report the issue so we could fix it for you.

Guter Platz mit sauberen Anlagen, für ein oder zwei Nächte total gut.

Osprey cabin

Liked Sehr ruhig gelegener Campingplatz.

From the manager: I have translated your review so that others can read it -" Liked: Very quiet campsite. The cabin had a kettle, water supply directly at the cabin, and four mattresses that were quite comfortable. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. There were a few things for sale at reception. The restrooms were clean.

Disliked: There were no sheets for the mattresses. The hairdryer cost extra."

My response to your review - We clearly state on all our descriptions and information regarding the Campers Cabins that you must supply your own bedding/sleeping bags, pillows and cooking equipment. We also suggest bringing a torch. This information is available to you to read prior to booking. The hairdryer within the ladies showers is 50p for 10 minutes, which we feel is reasonable considering the price of electric at present. You could also have brought your own hairdryer with you to use in the cabin, which has the electric, kettle, fridge freezer, wifi and heating included in the price.

Ok for a 1 night stopover perhaps. Far more better sites for the money

Tall Pines powered gravel motorhome site

Liked Quite and peaceful site.

Disliked Disposal area for cassette toilet was covered in excrement and toilet paper and showers waste was blocked resulting in buildup of water in shower area. There’s a definite problem with drainage on this site.

From the manager: Thank you for review. We did have an issue this morning with the chemical disposal ares. Some one had flushed rubber gloves down it and this had caused the pipe to block. As soon as we discovered the issue the plumber was called and attended to rectify the problem. I apologise for the problem but it was not an issue with drainage on the site but was caused by the silly actions of another customer. The shower wastes are not blocked and have been checked today as they are checked every day. If you had reported any issues to us at the time we could have addressed these for you but unfortunately we were not given that opportunity.

Local attractions

This is a central base indeed… set your sights on historic Stirling (40 minutes’ drive), a city with historic credentials like a castle, The National Wallace Monument and The Battle of Bannockburn Visitor Centre (45 minutes). The latter is based on a medieval battle location, which some of you might recognise from the film Braveheart. Of course, Glasgow (50 minutes) has more historic attractions, especially museums and impressive architecture. There are shops and theatres for those seeking a simpler kind of entertainment. Those who haven’t already tasted enough whisky in the city bars can pay a visit to the Glengoyne Distillery (20 minutes), which runs tours and tastings (including of their tasty single malt whisky). Perhaps you’re an animal fan too. There are 300-plus creatures at the Blair Drummond Safari Park (35 minutes), including giraffes and lions, and hands-on activities with the farm animals at Briarlands Farm (35 minutes).
