  • Small, friendly site surrounded by the Dorset countryside
  • A 20 minute-drive from West Bay; 35 minutes from Lyme Regis
  • Back to basics, dog-friendly place; pubs five minutes’ drive away
Eyeing up the darling Dorset countryside? Pick yourselves a pretty pitch at Pear Tree Farm, a small and friendly site surrounded by scenic views of the Beaminster Downs. And it's not all about the views – you'll also have access to a good supply of country footpaths here. As well as those rural hikes, you'll also be able to include coastal activities to your schedule easily enough. Lyme Regis is 35 minutes’ drive away from the site, for days spent foraging for fossils, trying out watersports or chilling out along The Cobb harbour. As for classic beach days, West Bay is about 20 minutes’ drive away. As a dog-friendly site, you won’t need to leave any faithful canine companions behind on your stay here. If dining out is high up on your priorities for a holiday too, you should be pleased to know that Beaminster is five minutes’ drive away and has several pubs and restaurants for eating out or takeaways. When you’re looking for a livelier day out, the lovely Weymouth is also 40 minutes’ drive away. Its beach huts, Georgian houses and busy seafront are sure to keep you very occupied for a day. Safety and security are key features at this site – it's accessed via an electric gate with a key code that's only available to guests. Covering the basics, the site has toilet and shower facilities.

What customers say

Quiet, safe country spot with great views & helpful owners. Well-kept sites with easy water/power access. Steep entrance is tricky; loos/showers can get tight, but it's a peaceful, top-value stay.

Power optional grass and gravel caravan site

Liked Peaceful, in the middle of the Dorset countryside, on a hill looking out over a valley with farm fields beyond. Plenty of wildlife.
Secure, electric gate entry and exit.
Firm level pitch for our Motorhome.
Chosen for its proximity to the Buckham Fair.
We didn’t use the facilities but all looked well cared for.
Very friendly and helpful owner.

Power optional grass and gravel tent or trailer tent site

Liked I had everything I needed & very good walking routes on the doorstep. Garry the owner was helpful & friendly. A small site with the personal touch. I will use this site again!

Disliked It would be great if the recycling bins were clearly labelled as some people were using all the bins for general waste.

Power optional grass and gravel caravan site

Liked Lovely secluded, quiet spot with ample facilities and the owner is a hugely helpful chap who went out of his way to check in on us/offer help and advice on the local area.

Only one shower and toilet that could be an issue if the site was busy

Power optional grass and gravel caravan site

Liked Such a cute and back to basics place, the couple that run it are really friendly and very helpful, site is small, remote, and away from everything.
The facilities are basic but clean and tidy, small block with a shower a toilet and a dish washing area.
Got a beautiful sunset there and was nice to just sit and listen to nature.

Disliked Could do with a larger shower and toilet block as if camp was full would be a struggle with just the one of each for all the people.

Local attractions

After you've viewed the Dorset countryside dealt to you on site, track down some pretty spots on the Dorset coast too. Views of Golden Cap and fossils to find make Eype beach (25 minutes’ drive) a good place to start. If your fossil hunting needs haven’t already been met in Lyme Regis and on Eype Beach, Charmouth (half an hour) is another place to continue your search. A busier beach scene can be experienced in Weymouth (40 minutes), along with an RSPB reserve and an aquarium with an ocean tunnel. Along the south coast, Abbotsbury Swannery (35 minutes) has a colony of nesting swans and the Isle of Portland (55 minutes) is packed with interesting geology and beaches – and, in turn, impressive coastal walks and watersports. History nerds have lots to look forward to too. Forde Abbey House and Gardens (25 minutes) isn’t just a historic country house. Green-fingered folk can pick up some bits in the garden centre. Have yourself a historic hike at Coney's Castle (25 minutes) too, where there’s an Iron Age hillfort and views of Devon and Marshwood Vale.
