What customers say

Friendly staff, great pitches, spotless facilities with hot showers. Lovely peaceful spot with a beautiful lake. Minor gripes: a bit dated in places, some road noise. Still, brilliant value and folks keen to come back.

Liked Great pitch size, would be good if you were motorhoming with others who had a tent as you could be in the same field. Peaceful location, it was very quiet with few guests when we visited. Very helpful staff who greeted me on arrival and explained everything clearly which made life easy. Clean facilities, very tidy well managed site. Good location if you just want to chill at the site or are happy to drive to places to visit, we went into Shaftesbury and also took a 40 min trip to the south coast.

Disliked Limited facilities, 2 toilets and 2 showers in the block near our field which was fine as there were not that many guests, but might be an issue if the field was busy.

Powered grass tent or trailer tent site (six person)

Liked Perfect location, lovely warm, clean showers and so peaceful. It’s where we call our happy place. Price is brilliant too especially the fact there is a small fishing lake where you can fish for free. Obviously if you have a licence that is. We’ve been 3 times now (twice in the last 2 weeks) and will be returning next year again but for a week next time. Great for dogs (we have 2) and great for a relaxing getaway. And the sunset is so beautiful. Thanks again for a great stay!

Liked Quiet and nice sunset views. Friendly owners.

Disliked Unsanitary bathrooms. I wouldn't use the showers due to the unclean environment. Bathroom facilities needs a full revamping

From the manager: Hi
Thank you for your comments and I am pleased you enjoyed the site.
Although really disappointing comments re the toilet/ shower block, and a we feel it was a bit harsh to give a 2/10 result. We pride ourselves on these as you can see on the previous reviews we were praised for the cleanliness of our facilties.
Unfortunately the toilets/ showers are only as clean as the previous users left them!!. And cannot be checked each time someone visits the toilet, it's impossible.
We are here 24/7 and had we been made aware we would have investigated your problem.
I take on board they are a little tired and need an update but plans are in motion( excuse the pun) to have a refit.

Powered grass tent or trailer tent site (six person)

Liked We had a fantastic stay at Shaftesbury Country Touring Park and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and well-equipped countryside escape.

From the moment we arrived, the site managers were incredibly friendly, helpful, and full of useful information. It was reassuring to know they were always around and happy to assist with anything we needed.

Our spacious pitch was perfectly located in the meadow, which offered beautiful views and a real sense of tranquility. We were lucky enough to be there during a quiet week, so at times it felt like we had the entire meadow to ourselves — such a treat! Right by our tent, we had access to electric hook-up and a water tap, which made everything super convenient.

A lovely surprise was the little fishing lake at the top of the meadow — a peaceful spot that added even more charm to the site.

The toilet and shower block, while a little tired in appearance, was kept very clean. The showers were always hot, though we did find that having a push-button rather than adjustable controls made them a bit less convenient as it meant you couldn’t choose the temp of your shower — a minor point, if you like your water HOT! There was also a washing machine and tumble dryer available for £5, which was handy.

Onsite, there’s a small petrol station with limited supplies, but it was perfect for grabbing a quick ice cream. And with both a Lidl and Tesco just a five-minute drive away, stocking up on essentials was a breeze.

All in all, a peaceful, friendly, and beautifully located site with great amenities and thoughtful touches. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wouldn’t hesitate to return!

Local attractions

Take a detour into the animal world for a little while… there are several animal-orientated activities within reach of the site, including the family-friendly Farmer Palmer’s Farm Park (45 minutes’ drive) for hands-on farm activities and the Bush Farm Bison Centre (15 minutes), home to bison and elk and woodland walks. On a bigger scale, Longleat (half an hour) has a drive-through safari packed with wild animals. However, it has more than just animals – there’s also an adventure park and over at Longleat House (35 minutes), you can ogle over an Elizabethan house through tours, exhibitions and walks around the formal and pleasure gardens. There are more trips into history at hand too, whether it’s inside Old Wardour Castle (20 minutes), Stourhead’s mansion and landscaped gardens (20 minutes) or Stonehenge (45 minutes). If you want energy-packed afternoons instead, the New Forest National Park (50 minutes) and its hiking and cycling trails may be worth the little longer drive. There are opportunities for watersports in Bournemouth (an hour) or a scenic coastal walk at Durdle Door (an hour) on the Jurassic Coast.
