  • One of the closest sites to Bournemouth
  • Sociable atmosphere that respects guests' peace and quiet
  • Lots of water-based activities to do nearby
If your destination is Dorset-based, farm yourself out to the friendly folk at St Leonards Farm Caravan & Camping Park, which is a splendid base for exploring Bournemouth, Poole and the New Forest. This is a place that has sparkling clean loos, toasty hot water for showers and washing up, and well marked-out pitches – clearly these farm folk know what campers want. And canine campers are welcome too. If you want to sizzle your own sausages, you can exchange gas cylinders on site and there are two major supermarkets within five minutes’ drive, or two pubs within a mile and a number of nearby restaurants if you’re feeling lazy/thirsty. St Leonards Farm is a sociable but quiet site and has a 'no noise after 11pm' policy – most welcome if you’re getting up at the crack of dawn for some seaside exploring.

Great spot for families! Clean facilities, friendly staff, and spacious pitches. Kids love the playground & soft play. A few grumbles about dated bits & road noise, but mostly highly rated.

Liked Location was good, most pitches were the same distance from the toilet/shower block. The campsite was very accommodating for the children with a great play park, football pitch & indoor play barn. Short walk to Lidl with was handy when staying longer than a couple of nights. We loved the food vendors on site stone baked pizzas were great on Saturday night and the kids loved the visit from the ice cream van too.

Disliked Washing facilities could have been a little cleaner and showers were temperamental 2 days of cold water showers and only one day we were there was their hot water for showers but it didn’t spoil our stay.

Liked Lovely campsite. Plenty of space. Lots for kids to do. Shops, McDonald's and pub all within 5 mins walk.

Disliked Could do with more than 5 showers in the block during busy season and maybe a warden doing checks at night for fires!

Liked Cleanliness of the park and the facilities was immaculate. Camp site was well organised for the time of year ensuring there was spacing between tents. Pitches were very flat.

Glad to had access to a play park and a football pitch.

Disliked Play barn was unfortunately under renovation during our stay, which was really unfortunate as this one of the reason we booked especially having young kids.

Liked Lovely reception upon arrival and given all information I needed. I’d requested the park area which I received and we were the only people on our row which the children loved! They had a football pitch so plenty of space for ball games and they loved meeting friends in the park.

There was an ice cream van everyday, food huts arrived and swapped throughout the week serving different hot meals (didn’t eat from them so can’t comment)

Shower block was often cleaned. Pitch sizes were large.

Very quiet in the night and the early mornings so slept well. Next door to a supermarket to top up fresh food and milk. We went to the beach for the day which was a 30 min drive away

Is was alone with 2 young ish children and felt very safe

They loved it and want to return

Liked Tidy site in a good location to explore Poole and Bournemouth. Different food vans each evening as well as ice cream van. Friendly staff.

Disliked Pitches on the small side. Could do with more toilets and showers considering the size of the site/ number of campers.

Local attractions

St Leonards Farm is one of the closest sites to Bournemouth, with sandy beaches only seven miles away. There’s loads to do nearby if you’re feeling full of beans – try watersports such as windsurfing, sailing or surfing at Bournemouth’s artificial reef, or get busy with some go-karting, dry slope skiing, golf, fishing or horse-riding in the scenic surrounding countryside. Feeling a bit tired after all that sporty exertion? Take a picnic to nearby Moors Valley Country Park, which has a golf course, cycling routes and outdoor play area, or have a family day out at a plethora of local attractions including Paultons Park, Marwell Zoo, Beaulieu Motor Museum and Wimborne Minster Model Town. Kids will likely enjoy fossil hunting on the Jurassic Coast, and if they’re disappointed by not finding a T-rex skeleton right there and then, you can take them along to the Dinosaur Museum at Dorchester, then spoil them with a day out at Adventure Wonderland less than three miles from the park. The site is also an ideal stopover point for the Poole or Portsmouth cross-channel ferries.
