Three Hares Campsite is a small family-run site in the Dartmoor National Park, part of a 25-acre smallholding run by friendly Chinnie and Henry. Simple, secluded and scenic – that’s the style of this little Devon site full of wildflowers and trees and bordering a little stream. It’s got hammocks set up in the willow trees and a small play area with a tree swing for the kids, and welcomes barbecues and campfires (as long as they’re kept off the ground). There’s also fab farm shop five minutes' drive away for top-notch sausages and local veg to grill. There’s much to do in the surrounding area, whether you’re planning hikes on the Two Moors Way, bike rides on the Wray Valley Trail or Granite Way, kayaking, swimming and climbing around the River Teign or simply sampling all the Devon cream teas you can possibly manage. Exeter’s about a 25-minute drive away for a city fix, and you can get to beach days within about 40 minutes. This is a simple and eco-friendly site but all the necessary facilities are in place: guests have access to fresh water, hot (and strong) showers, flushing toilets, a chemical waste point and a lovely timber-framed washing-up area. Sorry, but no dogs are allowed on site as it has sheep for neighbours.

This little gem's got a creek, hammocks and swings for the kids. Showers and toilets are spotless! Folks rave about the peace, easy check-in and welcoming hosts. Road noise and hot showers are minor points, but management's on it. Great value, and a top spot to explore Dartmoor.

Lovely to see the kids all mixing in together. (We were two adults)
Well situated for Teign Valley and wood
Drewe Arms nearby, great friendly pub with lovely food.
Chinnie was very friendly and recommended great swim spots

Disliked In lots of ways it was nice not to have mobile reception,/WiFi. However, for planning days out it would've have been helpful.

Liked The campsite serves as a practical base for exploring Dartmoor. The showers and toilets were kept very clean throughout our stay.

Disliked There is a stagnant pond near the showers and some road noise from the A30.

Liked Great campsite for young kids to play and mingle with other children. Good facilities with a peaceful setting. Highly recommend visiting Fingle bridge if you want a day paddling by the river, only a 10 minute drive from the campsite.

Liked Friendly hosts who made available fire bowls and logs for hire. Plenty of hot water, community fridge and freezer. Clean shower and toilet block.
Level easy access pitches.
Semi wild simple camp site. Possibly the loudest dawn chorus I’ve ever experienced at 4am😁.

Disliked Press button showers a bit temperamental.
Slight road noise from A30 and also high flying airliners.
