  • Spacious and peaceful holiday park within the Heligan Estate
  • A 10-minute drive from St Austell; 20 minutes from the Eden Project
  • Views over Mevagissey Bay; Lost Gardens of Heligan next door
Seeking some sea views for your Cornwall holiday? Beach within easy reach? Nice places to eat nearby? How about a famous attraction next door as the cherry on top? All these things are rolled into one fabulous location at Heligan Caravan and Camping Park, located within the Heligan Estate and next door to the much-loved Lost Gardens of Heligan. There are stunning views out over Mevagissey Bay from the pitches, and the villages of Pentewan and Mevagissey are both about two miles away (these being where you’ll find the nearest beach, lots of pubs, cafés and other places to eat, plus a local fishmonger). This spot within the Roseland Heritage Coast is an excellent one for getting out and about to explore the south coast of Cornwall, perhaps hitting the South West Coast Path for a long hike, heading to a beach or few, or looking out for historic attractions like Caerhays Castle. There are lots more fishing villages and attractions nearby too – including the Eden Project, which is about 20 minutes’ drive away. Fill your days with whichever activities you like, safe in the knowledge that a peaceful place to stay awaits at the end of it all. The park is surrounded by oak woods and open fields, so the views are nicely green and rural all around, and there’s plenty of space to relax on site, including paths where you can stretch your legs (along with any dogs you may be travelling with) and a playground for the kids. Among the handy facilities at this park are a food shop, a launderette, a chemical disposal point and bathrooms with disabled access and baby changing facilities.

Local attractions

Of course you’ll want to venture next door to the Lost Gardens of Heligan (five minutes’ walk away) – ideally as soon as it opens in the morning so you can have the trails to yourselves. Green-fingered guests may also like to visit the National Trust’s Trelissick Garden (40 minutes’ drive), which has riverside walks and an Iron Age fort within the grounds. Down at the coast, there are boat trips from Mevagissey (five minutes), walks and bike rides along the coast path and the chance to walk among a fabulous collection of magnolias and rhododendrons at Caerhays Castle (10 minutes). St Austell (10 minutes) is home to several beaches and a sea-view golf course as well as the Shipwreck Treasure Museum and the St Austell Brewery. Looking inland, you could explore the themed domes of the Eden Project (20 minutes), meet the feathered residents of Screech Owl Sanctuary (half an hour) or learn a bit about the area’s industrial past at Wheal Martyn Clay Works (15 minutes).
