  • Small Lake District farm site for families and couples
  • Two miles from Broughton-in-Furness; Coniston Water 20 minutes' drive
  • Family-run farm with sheep and cows; eggs and logs available to buy
Half a mile from the small village of Broughton Mills and two miles from the market town of Broughton-in-Furness, this quiet Lake District farm has a small selection of spacious pitches for families and couples looking to sleep under canvas in the gorgeous Lickle Valley. Set in the south of the Lake District and 20 minutes’ from the coast, Lane End Farm has simple amenities including portable toilets and an honesty shop where you can pick up logs and fresh eggs. Other than that, you'll pretty much be left to your own devices here. This site makes an excellent base for many a day trip in the national park, whether you have your eye on watersports at Coniston Water (20 minutes' drive) or conquering the lofty heights of Scafell Pike (an hour). If you haven't yet decided on your itinerary, perhaps this spot's fantastic far-reaching views will help you with some inspiration: the views over the fells just seem to go on and on, with several footpaths directly accessible from the farm for off-road rambles. This quiet part of the Lake District is also a wildlife haven: sit quietly in the field and you'll likely be treated to the sight of buzzards flying overhead; if they fail to make an appearance, there are always the cows and sheep grazing in the neighbouring fields. After a meal out or drink? This site is within roughly a quarter of an hour's walk of The Blacksmith's Arms, rated by the farm's owners as one of the best in the area.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked: Aside from festivals, this was our first time camping and we thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at Lane End Farm! The area was very peaceful and pitches were well spaced out, ensuring we had our own space within the field. The toilets, shower and washing-up area were kept clean, and each pitch had it's own picnic bench and fire pit which was a great bonus. We didn't have any problems throughout our stay however the owners were just up the road should you have any. Great location too - only a 20 minute drive to Coniston. Would definitely recommend!
