  • Sociable park in a valley next to the River Wharfe
  • A 15-minute drive to Wetherby, 20 to Harrogate and 30 to Leeds
  • Dayroom with a reading lounge and snooker table
If your travels usually revolve around country walks from a well-equipped, green base, you'll likely do well at Maustin Park in West Yorkshire’s Lower Wharfe Valley. At this large, rural park in Yorkshire, head for a wander beside the river Wharfe (minutes away on foot), where birds can often be spotted in the trees and fishing can be done on the water. Rare red kites are often seen around the region. And if you're more of a browser than a birdwatcher or angler, Maustin Park is in the middle of the Yorkshire triangle of Harrogate, Leeds and York (20, 30 minutes and 45 minutes’ drive away respectively). Wetherby’s 15 minutes away and holds a town market every Thursday. Back at base, unwind in the reading lounge, have a snooker match in the dayroom or host a game on the bowling green. The on-site Stables Bar is open from Thursday through to Sunday for drinks only, with a great selection of local ales, wines and flavoured gins. Handy amenities on site include toilets, showers, a washing-up area and a laundry room, plus waste disposal and water taps.

What customers say

This is a peaceful, well-kept, adults-only site with roomy, fully-serviced pitches and top-notch facilities, plus a popular pub with good tucker. Reviewers loved the friendly staff, calm vibe, and lovely country surrounds with local walks. While mostly top marks, some noted tight shower/toilet blocks and occasional pub din.

Fully-serviced grass and gravel caravan site

Liked Quiet well set out area with 6 pitches for caravans/motorhomes. Each pitch has its own services and picnic bench. Able to sit out and watch a pair of red kites play in the thermals. Handy walk for dog along on the river Wharfe right next to site. On site pub was very popular for traditional Yorkshire Sunday lunch. Local cider was sampled and enjoyed. Overall would def use again if in area. Forget to mention the excellent customer service in reception and around the site.

Disliked Nothing really. Facilities clean, staff friendly.

Fully-serviced grass and gravel caravan site

Liked The Stables Pub was the only highlight. The food was excellent but bar service could be improved.

Disliked The pitches have no view (tired looking bowling area). The toilet/shower block, water from shower runs across toilet floor, more like a portacabin. There is a sewage smell around the pot washing area (directly at the rear of pitches 3 & 4 (there are only 6). Staff generally disinterested in the touring area. The focus seems to be selling on site holiday homes, there are part-exchange posters everywhere. The site is very 'clicky' and caters for longer stay holiday home residents.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hi if you come to reception and told us there was a smell of sewerage then we could have rectified the problem. The grass on the site and bowling green is brown due to the lack of rainfall, the bowling green is cut every week and treated but due to weather the grass has died.

Fully-serviced grass and gravel caravan site

Liked The enthusiasm of all the staff nothing is too much trouble for them
The site was well maintained and very clean in the shower block.
The food in the bar was excellent and the atmosphere when you entered was amazing just like it used to be at your local pub that’s when we used to have some.
This is our third visit and I hope not the last 🤞

Local attractions

Once you’ve ticked off trips to the independent shops of Harrogate, the Jorvik Viking Centre in York and the Royal Armouries houses in Leeds, it’s easy to get deep into the countryside as it's about a 30-minute drive to the Yorkshire Dales National Park in one direction and 50 to the North York Moors National Park in another. To blend a bit of history into days out in scenic surrounds, well-preserved old manors with pristine gardens are all around, including Harewood House (10 minutes’ drive) and Ripley Castle (30 minutes). Soap opera fan? A visit to Harewood’s estate is also your chance to tour the studios and setting of Emmerdale (just make sure to book in advance). If you're in the company of nippers, they may instead prefer to be taken to the treetop trails, enchanted forest and adventure playgrounds at Stockeld Park (10 minutes).
