Castlemorton common

  • Friendly adults-only site at the foot of the Malvern Hills
  • Access to Castlemorton Common and 35 minutes’ walk from Little Malvern
  • Barbecues permitted on site; walk to four country pubs
Keen to get away to the Malvern Hills? Looking for a break where your dog can get involved with the hill walking? A peaceful spot within walking distance of multiple cosy country pubs? Marlbrook Farm is here to get things started… The family-run, adults-only site based on a working horse livery yard is in the Malvern Hills National Landscape with direct access to Castlemorton Common and a 10-minute drive from the Three Counties Showground. Don your hiking boots and head for the common or the hills – the site is just 35 minutes’ walk from Little Malvern and under 10 minutes’ drive from British Camp Hill Fort. Those of you who’d rather mount your bicycle and get pedalling can set your sights on historic Ledbury (15 minutes’ drive or 45 minutes’ cycle) and the peaceful riverside in Upton upon Severn (25 minutes’ drive or cycle) too. Hill walking and cycling aside, those wishing to tip back a few local ales and indulge in some country pub grub will be pleased to find four such establishments within walking distance. The closest is just 15 minutes’ walk away and the remainder are 25 minutes’ walk or 35 minutes’ walk away – so judge your favourite for yourselves. If barbecues with stunning views are high on your priorities too, good news. They're permitted on site, and there’s a village shop 10 minutes’ walk away to simplify sourcing ingredients. Facilities on this peaceful independent site include one shower and two toilets located a short walk away from the pitches (passing by the horse stables) and a chemical disposal point.

What customers say

This quiet, adult-only spot boasts cracking views of the Malverns & direct access to Castlemorton Common, fab for dog walks. Spacious, level pitches have water & EHU. Horses at the working livery yard are a big draw. Basic but clean facilities were a bit limited for some when busy, with iffy Wi-Fi. Owner's friendly & helpful.

Liked Beautiful location with excellent walks and lovely views. Spacious attractive pitch in South meadow.

Disliked There was little attention paid to the provision of toilet and washing up facilities for campers. One loo with shower which was of satisfactory standard located at end of stable block. Washing up was in judges box for riding arena which was a bit of a mess. Campsite appears to have been there for some years but no investment in facilities for campers. Site very much focused on horses which is a shame as it has potentially a lot to offer. Never encountered the owner.

Liked Fabulous views, nice level site, services nice and close.
Local pubs really good and only a short walk away.

Disliked Some issues on pitch allocation when arriving but they were sorted out.
The toilet is along walk from the north pitches and there is only one.

Liked Lovely location with direct access to the hills from the site. Very quiet.

Disliked There is only one toilet and shower in the same room, so if the site was full that may have meant queuing.

Liked I stayed in south feild plot 3, great views of the hills, and the paddock in front, nice quiet little spot, easy to find and access, there is plenty of space between pitches too, shower facilities was very clean and well maintained.

Disliked Not essentially a dislike, but I can imagine only having 1 toilet and shower could be an issue during busier season.

Liked Peaceful site close to range of good locations with uncrowded spacious, level pitches in beautiful setting. Toilet and shower facilities are limited but clean and provide plenty of hot water. We will definitely consider staying again when next in the area.

Liked Beautiful setting. Loads of space. Second visit and we will come again. Feel tucked away from it all. Can walk direct up onto the Malvern from the site.

Disliked Shower facilities a bit rustic. We don’t mind that but there is only one shower/toilet and was occupied a couple of times we tried to visit. No big deal and we did know about it. Part of the charm.

Liked Beautiful setting on Castlemorton Common a few miles from Great Malvern. As we were attending the Spring Show at 3 Counties Showground it was just down the road from there.
The farm actually stables horses and both cows and sheep graze just in front of the farm, it was lovely to be surrounded by all these animals.

Disliked The was only 1 shower which is in with the “campsite toilet” so going for a shower in the morning inevitably means waiting… there is a second toilet, fortunately, but obviously it is used by the stable hands so it is rather basic.

Liked Lovely setting in small plot about 6 pitches secluded from roads, in trees with lovely view Malvern Hills and right on Castlemorton common. Nice being in practical working stables, horses etc.
Catherine is amazing with what she has achieved from scratch and lovely down to earth person, helpful and accommodating.
Thankyou

Disliked Toilets and shower clean and effective but not luxurious. All else good really

Local attractions

From the site, walk straight out onto Castlemorton Common. From there, it'll take you around an hour to walk to the top of the Malvern Hills without even crossing a road. On the edge of Welland, the site is also within walking distance of the annual Welland Steam & Country Rally event. There are many more festivals in Upton upon Severn (25 minutes’ drive) For a peek into the past, try Little Malvern Priory (35 minutes' walk) or Eastnor Castle (10 minutes' drive). The latter has a deer park, arboretum and a grand castle with turrets overlooking the lake. Gawp at the state rooms in the castle or try and work your way out of the garden maze. If you’re looking to switch things up, you might want to roll down to the Wye Valley National Landscape (25 minutes) for yet more wanders or watersports on the River Wye.
