What customers say
Great spot for the Cotswolds! Lovely views, chill vibes, and clean facilities (especially the showers). Spacious, good for families, near Stow-on-the-Wold. Pitches can be a bit sloped, bins and loo roll sometimes an issue.

Unpowered grass caravan site
Liked Beautiful views
Great value for money
Spotless shower and toilet facilities
Website advised non EHU only but called before hand and advised EHU available.
Lady friendly and helpful.
Great base for exploring
Disliked No one onsite when we arrived but in fairness it does advise this is the case if you arrive after 6. A more personal touch would have been nice but this may have impacted us because we are new to the van life and have to understand that every site is different.

From the manager: Hi, thanks for staying with us, we're pleased you enjoyed your stay.
We're disappointed you felt there were no dog walks locally, if fact we have 4 foot paths that run through the site leading to different parts of the locality, all signed. We also detail several of the walks on maps in the information area in the clubhouse lobby. We're unsure of the bridge path you refer to as none of the walks in the area involved bridges.
Thanks again for staying with us, we hope to see you again.

Pleasant surprise at Stow Rugby Club –clean, simple, great views 10/10

Liked ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️YesYes 10/10 STARS⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I stayed overnight at Stow-on-the-Wold Rugby Club in my big red VW bus, and honestly, it was a really pleasant surprise for the price they charge.
What’s great here is that you don’t have to mess about with reception staff – everything is handled through Pitchup. In the lobby you’ll find the site rules and local information, and if you do need anything, staff are just a phone call or text away. This keeps costs down, meaning they can reinvest into the place and make it much better than you’d expect, while also being a brilliant addition to the rugby club.
The site offers fantastic views, and the facilities are much better than I expected. Toilets and showers were available – and very clean. There are even washing-up facilities, which was a lovely surprise, as most sites in this price range don’t usually offer anything beyond basic toilets (if that!).
There’s a board with names for booked pitches – if you book on the same day, your name might not appear, but it’s not an issue. I came expecting more of a wild camping experience but found it to be far nicer and more organised than expected.
Yes, the field is on a slope, but it’s easy enough to get your camper level with minimal blocking. In my case, I didn’t even need wedges – just parked at the right angle and it was fine.
The rugby club house was open when a game was on, serving drinks at very reasonable prices compared to the pubs up the road. You can also see that the staff have worked hard to bring the site up to a much higher standard than it could have been, and it really shows.
Best of all, there’s a little lobby with a 24/7 contactless coffee machine and WiFi in the lobby – such a nice touch and something you don’t often find on sites like this.
All in all, a brilliant little spot with way more than you’d expect for the price. I’d happily stay again.
Disliked OK I'm going to be honest I dislike the eslon point (waste desposal)
as its so low on the floor you have to bend over but it's not a massive issue as it's cleen

Overall its a good location but not good for tents
Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site
Liked Great location
Beautiful views
Disliked No greeting at all, no signs to tell you where washing up facilities or taps etc where had to search
Dirty toilets and showers, reported this but same dirt stayed the 4 nights we were there. Shower mop and bucket held same dirty water all week never changed we did report this but only quick clean no real change
Pitches are really sloped really difficult for tents. Felt like the caravan pitches were level and the right place but tents were not cared for.
Rubbish and dog poo on field

From the manager: Hi, thanks for staying with us & for your review.
We don't have a full time manager on site as it's just not economical, & as we are just a small site they would be under used for most of the time. We have a large white board at the entrance to the camp site which details the pitch allocation if you have booked an electric hook up, but also that you are free to pitch anywhere of the grass area that suits you, this would be the same information you would receive if we had a manager on site full time. I'm sorry you found the toilets dirty, they are cleaned at least twice daily, however its not always possible to clean each time the toilets are used as this varies so much with the guests who stay with us. I will take up your observations with the cleaners. we're also concerned that you found dog poo & litter on the field, we do have a daily inspection, & most of our visitors are very responsible with their dog, however we also have a public footpath running through the site & unfortunately some of the folk who use the footpath are not so responsible.
The 3 fresh tap water points are very visible & along with the wash up area, detailed in the camp site information provided in the clubhouse lobby, along with maps of local walks & local points of interest
Regarding the slope, there are areas that are sloped & its impossible to provide a flat area in a 3 acre Cotswold Hills field, the hard standings are reasonably level & as much as our planning permission will allow, however most people find a level enough area.
Thanks again for staying with us.
Convenient

Great location, uneven electric hook up pitches.
Powered grass caravan site
Liked Great location next to stow-on-the-wold.
Very quiet site, self check in easy as just head to your pitch.
Fair prices drinks in the rugby club bar.
Beautiful views from the pitches.
Very clean toilets and showers available.
Disliked Pitches very uneven being that they are at the top of the hill on a slope.
Had to use lots of bricks/slabs to level caravan... So take plenty of levelling chocks and your levelling ramps.
Would be good if the bar served food in the evenings when open, even just easy things like chips, nuggets, pizzas etc :)

From the manager: Hi, thanks for visiting us & leaving a review, glad you enjoyed your stay.
Unfortunately its not really feasible to open the bar for food every night as experience has taught us that the demand just isn't there to make it worthwhile or the cover the costs of opening, we've opened on several occasions in the past couple of years but only the occasional guest has wanted food, so we didn't cover the costs.
With regards to the slope of the pitches, we have limited options to form flat areas, as we are in an area of outstanding natural beauty & our planning permission gives us very limited options to alter the ground levels, given that we are in the middle of the Cotswold hills & can be seen from miles around. Most people manage to level up with blocks or ramps, or can find a usable compromise.
We have plans to carry out tarmac repairs to the drive when the camping season is over so that we don't block the entrance to the site for visitors.
The children's play area is really just a small token for some of the younger children who visit us, playground equipment is extremely expensive & costly to maintain & gets very little use, usually most children have much more enjoyment for the location & wide open spaces than a fixed park. As an example, the new surfacing under the equipment cost £5k earlier this year which we had to fund raise for. We are very much an amateur rugby club with some camping provision, the funds raised from camping is the only fundraise we have in the summer & it really helps to keep the club just about solvent so we have to be watchful how we spend.
We note your comments regarding the ramps in the road, these are essential as we have small children running around & people tend to speed along the access road. There are signs at the entrance of the club alerting visitors to the ramps, however we will review them at the end of the season.
Thanks again for staying with us, we look forward to seeing you again.
